We stayed here for 2 nights on a quick visit to Panama City. The location was great for visiting the canal, the causeway and the old city. The location is in a quiet street so we had to use cabs to get around, but these are fairly cheap. Take the address of the Inn with you as many taxi drivers did not know where it was!
The room was excellent, very clean and great shower.
Franz the owner was excellent and very hospitable. Breakfast each day was excellent.
I would definitely recommend this Inn, especially if you have a hire car.

My first visit to the Canal Inn B&B was in Aug 2010, with a group of 11 entomologists I was leading on a 2-week expedition. The beds were comfortable, the AC's worked great, and the care given by the Franz and his assistants was wonderful. The B&B sits almost under the Bridge of the Americas at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. It sits back in a residential area, across the street from the Maritime Academy (The old Canal Zone College and Florida State Univ). There is easy access to the Corridor Norte and Corridor Sur, Albrook/Gelabert Airport, and the Pan American highway if you want to head up to the beaches or drive up to EL Valle. Rates are very reasonable, and includes breakfast. I plan to stay here on many future trips to Panama over the next several years, sometimes 2 or 3 times a year.

Room Tip: All the rooms appeared to be of equal quality.

Franz and Maria, are very accommodating host and hostess, helping to navigate around the city of Panama, and offering up special places to visit, even going so far as to draw a map to really make it easy to get around the city.

Offering free WiFi and a comfortable and quite environment for your visit in Panama city.

great hospitality - nice breakfast - GREAT shower - owner was very friendly too!

Franz, the owner, was very helpful and saved us a lot of money by giving good advice on tours and travel. The rest of the staff were very friendly.
The rooms were quite big and clean, except the kitchen which was dusty. The bathroom has a rainshower and is better than in some five-star hotels.
The location is nice, it's far away from the city rush but it's easy to get in the city center by taking a cab. The only disappointment is that it's hard to get a cab in the evening, and there is not much to do nearby the hotel.

Colorful and filled with interesting decoration! It was a little difficult because none of the staff spoke any English. Our room had no hot water but we couldn't explain the problem so we just took cold showers. The swimming pool was filthy!!! Algae and leaves and dirt were making it cloudy and no one staying there ever went in even though the temps were in the 90s. The owner did speak good English but wasn't around very often. WiFi only worked part of the time. Good atmosphere, and the other guests were friendly. The inn is in a quiet neighborhood, but there is only one restaurant within walking distance.
