Description: Seafood plays a central role in Panama City dining—and no place captures it better than the Mercado de Mariscos. At this fish market, you’ll literally bump into fishermen carrying their catches and taking them to the many vendors inside. Be sure to order an affordable and super-fresh cup of ceviche on the first floor—or head to the super-casual but delicious sit-down seafood eatery upstairs.

“BAD ODORS THREATENS TOURISM”
Reviewed 3 December 2012

lack of personnel to do cleaning, lack of sanitation programs, lack of training programs for the personnel who work in the market (sanitation, use of products and use of the wright dosages), lack of cleanning, no SSOP, no GMP, no Registration Forms for the developed activities, lack of controls. recollection of the garbage not scheduled, lack of organization, maybe because of management weakness (related to sanitation and organization), not many parcking spaces, bad manufacture practices in the restaurants and coffee places (no GMP's and no SSOP's), each renter must comply (it's their obligation) Administratives must control and supervise accomplishment.

“Fresh, fresher, freshest fish!”
Reviewed 26 October 2012

In summary: awesome! Really nice fresh seafood in a very rustic setting.

Picky foodies, please beware. You won't like the surroundings and thus the food won't taste good for you. So do yourself a favour and don't go to this restaurant.

This is a strong recommendation for people who care more about the food and actually like the down to earth ambiance.

“If you love ceviche, go here!”
Reviewed 8 September 2012

My title says it all. If you're a huge ceviche fan, go here! Even if you're not, but you're open for a yummy seafood dish, go here. This area is just full of vendors who sell ceviche. Each one does it very differently, so feel free to go around and try different ones. It's definitely a more local area as well and you'll experience an authentic market feel.

“A real fish market”
Reviewed 7 August 2012

Walk thru this place. Smell the fish, see the fish, buy the fish, and take it home to fix it the way you like it. A very busy place all the time. Great ceviche.

“Great Food, slow service, busy & very hot”
Reviewed 7 August 2012

Our family of 6 went to eat at this restaurant after visiting the fish market. First you have to get your head around the smell of fish, then the heat..no air-co..also it's very very busy. We got tables joined together pretty quickly and drinks were served fast..but we waited over an hour for our food, many tables were served before us..maybe because we were tourists or because we ordered lobster?? Anyways the food was simply excellent and exceptional value for money..also it's a true local Panamanian experience!
