“Wonderful place, nice staff”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

The Panams is a highly recommended boutique hotel in the center of Panama city. It is close to the boulevard with its fantastic view to the skyscrapers. Everything you need is close by, especially a huge amount of restaurants. All staff was very helpful and super cooperative, especially because we arrived early in the morning and we could go into our room anyway! However, not all staff members are fluent in English so some Spanish can be helpful... The room itself is stylishly furnished, very spacious and has all you can wish for, even a rain shower and a jacuzzy! Everything is clean of course. The breakfast is simple but delicious: toast, cereals, egg, juice and coffee. We liked it a lot! The lobby is also comfortable and has two nice areas to spend some time with free coffee, ice tea and cookies. For us, a rooftop pool would have been the cherry on top!

The hotel is beautifully decorated and in a quiet neighborhood. My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and my birthday (they are on the same day!) and we experienced a very warm welcome. The staff helped us arrange a romantic evening on the town and even brought a bottle of champagne to celebrate. (Most of the staff are bilingual - English/Spanish). The room we choose had a wonderful, Jacuzzi tub and king size bed that was so comfortable. Breakfast was more than we expected - great coffee, juice, fruit, and eggs. We also enjoyed the complimentary wine and cookies, their lobby and adjoining room are nice areas to relax in, there is also a computer with internet in a separate area. There are no views from the rooms but the huge rooms are romantic, each room has its own décor and character. We loved this place and will definitely be back.

Panams is a surprisingly beautifully decorated and modern oasis in the center of Bella Vista's busy streets. Bordering the upscale financial district and on a one-way street, it's still not known by all the cab drivers; best to take a business card. Exceptional staff and full breakfast options. Beautifully done, replete with elegant bath/shower and a large, jetted spa tub in each room. Bargain prices for an elegant respite within walking distance of Mariscos' and a short cab ride to all the sights. I stayed two days, left my luggage safely with Luis at the front desk, and took off for the beach. Came back for two more nights prior to my flight home. Excellent value, exceptional staff and courtesy breakfast, plus anything else you may request. I will be back.

Room Tip: Be sure to request hot water at the front desk, as the Panamanian penchant for cool or cold showers...

I don't know how to explain it except to say something just seemed a little off. We stayed for two nights in March. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. But small details seemed askew: flimsy room doors, sliding bar lock on room door didn't match up/function, mirrors mounted too high in the bathroom, plaques with room numbers mounted crooked on the walls, and lobby staff frequently spraying deodorizing spray and burning incense. It left us wondering what was up.

We were excited by the mention of free wine and cookies in the lobby. The cookies were pretty lackluster grocery store fare, and the wine seemed rationed. (One bottle of red and white daily. When it was gone, so was the ammenity -- with a variety of guests, that didn't take long. All in all, we didn't experience the effusive, warm, helpful staff that others here have described.

We had a fantastic experience at Hotel Tantalo in Casco Viejo and would steer people there first.

We stayed for 4 nights and was very impressed by the hotel. Rooms were huge and breakfast was fantastic. It helps if you speak Spanish at breakfast as I think there are more cooked options that we could not understand. Free wine, coffee and biscuits all day and a great lobby area that most people hang out in to get the best WiFi connection so it has a good vibe with great contemporary music being played. Great location near to Bella Vista and we walked around at night no problem. Easy walk to Old Town and the new mall. Bathroom shower was HuGE and also the hot tub bath in the room was an amazing idea!

We stayed at the panams twice during our stay in Panama. Booked it before for the first days, and we returned for the last days of our vacation. Why? Because this is an excellent hotel, especially for the price we payed. The rooms (we had two different ones) are very big with comfortable beds, a nice sitting area, jacuzzi (that we did not use as we were out a lot), large bathroom with big rain shower. In the lobby you can help yourself to free ice-tea, coffee and even wine you can take up to your room. The hotel is very nicely situated between the Cinta Costera (panama Bay) and Via Espana, so we could easily get everywhere we wanted. The neighbourhood around Calle Uruguay with a lot of nice restaurants and bars is at walking distance as well. We met a lot of very nice people in Panama, but I have to say the staff at this hotel was outstanding! Very friendly and helpful. After one day they all know your face so you don't even have to ask for your key, it's ready on the desk (24/24) when they see you approaching. Even on our second stay almost two weeks later. Special compliments to the lady at the breakfast area as well. She really seemed to take pride in checking you have everything you need and makes sure your eggs are cooked exactly how you like them :-)

My wife and I arrived here, exhausted after a long bus trip. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and assisted us in transportation, finding restaurants etc. The room couldn't have been nicer. Very comfortable king bed. Well decorated and modern. The bath was all tile and glass with the largest shower head I have ever seen. Breakfast was a variety of cereal meats and cheeses as well as eggs and bacon cooked to order. This is a luxury hotel and for us was a real bargain.
