“Lunch at Las Clementinas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2013

After 3 days in Panama City, my wife and I had a wonderful lunch here. We really liked the simple decor and excellent quality of the food. It was probably the best meal we have had in Panama City. We will definitely return. We agreed that it reminded us an old New Orleans style quality restaurant. Three stars!

Room Tip: Although we did not stay in the hotel we visited the room immediately above the restaurant to check...

What a lovely review. Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at our restaurant. We are thrilled that you rate us among the best in the city, and comparing us to New Orleans is high praise, indeed. Thanks again!

great place. just back from two nights there. clean, great location, excellent staff. miquel is a gentleman who runs the place and will do anything to make your stay. good breakfast, cute restaurant...clean, spacious rooms, nice rooftop spot to view the old city. good A/C, hot water, comfy bed. really relaxing place...with great coffee table books in the rooms too.
great city for walking all about.
ask about lunch at the fish market and the best hildago at a place that starts w/the letter G. really, really good. i went twice in one day.
had a great time. spend the cash, stay, relax and explore the city and enjoy the hotel.

Room Tip: I had room 3. It was excellent.

Thank you for writing about your stay with us. We're so happy that you enjoyed the rooms, staff, restaurant, and above all Casco Viejo where we call home. It's a really special place, and we're delighted that you got to see the neighborhood and enjoyed the fish market. Definitely a great place! Thank you again.

Our car overheated near the Bridge of the Americas, and we took the exit to Casco Viejo to look for water. We found it at a police station, and the policeman took care of putting it into the radiator. Because of the 5 pm traffic, and the potential for losing the water again, we chose to spend the night in Casco Viejo instead of continuing to our home in Coronado at night, a journey of 55 miles. The policeman recommended a couple of hotels, one being Clementinas, so we drove there. This hotel and its restaurant are first class, with a staff that is also first class. We looked at the room before checking in, and it was a suite with a full kitchen, living room, a large bedroom and bath, and two separate patios. It had been totally restored to Casco Viejo's required original concept two years previously, which means outside it looked like a building in the Bourbon Street section of New Orleans, but the inside was beautifully new. The stay included a breakfast that was excellent. With our Jubilado visa discounts, its price was very economical. We recommend it highly.

Thank you for writing so beautifully about our hotel! I remember you and your wife, and your sad tale regarding your car's radiator. We couldn't be happier that we were able to make a difficult situation a little better for you both. We do hope you come and visit us again, this time under better circumstances!

We arrived in Panama City with reservations at this small boutique hotel. We were hesitant because we had never stayed in Casco Viejo. But I have to say that the stay was wonderful. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, the staff is adorable and the food in the downstairs restaurant is first class. No need to go out from the hotel if you do not wish to do so. There are lots of places to see close by, all within walking distance however. A lovely place to stay a few days discovering the hidden treasures of Panama's Casco Viejo!

Room Tip: Only stairs, no elevator!

Thank you so much for the lovely review! We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us, and your time in Casco Viejo! It's a beautiful part of the city, even with all the changes taking place now. We hope you come again! And ps... I think the staff is pretty adorable, too.

This really is a fabulous boutique hotel. The staff are incredibly pleasant and are forever going out of their way to ensure your stay is special. The General Manager is always around to ensure everything is perfect. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed. The linen and beds are very comfortable. I was travelling as a family and children are well accomodated for. It is truly a charming place and a must if you are staying in Panama.

Room Tip: If you have difficulty walking request a room on the lower floors as there is no elevator. If not t...

This is a gem of a hotel in Casco Vieho. The suites are lovely and spacious. There is a living room/dining room and separate bedroom. The bathroom is lovely and there is a kitchen with refrigerator, sink, microwave, coffee service. There are interesting "collections" decorating the rooms ( antique cameras, etc).

Their customer service is top notch and kudos to Maria and Miguel for all your help. Food here is excellent - we had two dinners and two breakfasts. The roof view of the city is wonderful.

Do know that there is no elevator so be prepared for stairs. The staff will handle your luggage. They will also tell you the best places to eat and shop ( they have a little booklet to guide you) and the safest places to walk. You are a short walk from almost anything you would want to see in the Casco, Be advised as you have no doubt read that the area is undergoing a complete transformation. Construction abounds and in a year or two this area will be stunning. The new brick roads are in, in many areas and the buildings are being redone in many areas. There are road closures and detours - BEWARE if you are trying to drive yourself. This hotel is right across the road from a station of the national policia so there is quite a bit of activity there - and maybe even a feeling of additional safety.

One caveat on sleeping. We were in Room 2 over the bar on a Saturday night which is the night that they have live music in the bar and we found it difficult to get some early sleep as is our habit. They should be through at 11 or so but we could clearly hear the music and this may not be the best choice for an early sleeper on a Saturday. Get a higher room off the road if you can as well.

Room Tip: Ask for the highest room you feel you can climb to for the quietest room and best view,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your stay with us. We could not be happier that you enjoyed the rooms and our staff! We're sorry that the music from our live jazz filtered up to your room. It's purely acoustic so we had thought it would be fine. We will be looking into ways to minimize whatever discomfort for our guests in the hotel.
