“Perfect for a family!”
Reviewed 17 June 2012

We had a fantastic experience staying here with our toddler age son. The hosts were very helpful and also gave us our space. The apartment was immaculate, modern and a great value. Ask for an interior apartment as I can imagine one on the street would be noisy.

Good location! Clean, modern, good size rooms! Good stay and would recommend! Side note the staff were friendly and helpful but due to nature of set up this place is really for independent travellers who don't need much guidance etc. Tip - ask for room with balcony - ours did not have. Room was very nicely furnished and we had a kitchenette and living room also with new flat screen tv? Location cannot be beaten in my view and there are exceptional views from roof to and the restaurant downstairs was very good.

The location was great and the view was unparalleled from our balcony. The area is still under major construction; go down one street and it's beautiful, while the next street may look slummy; but that in a nutshell is Panama City and how it should be seen; personally I would not recommend staying in the city as it isn't geared much to tourism. 2 and a half days was probably 2 days too long.

That being said, the property was great, safe and made me feel spoiled. The guy running the place was also really great. At night however, even though it is not the busiest street, cars turn the corner here at a screeching speed; added to the hostel next door and the children running around in the street; it was way too noisy for my liking.

But if I had to come back to Panama City, I wouldn't hesitate going back here; most large hotels are out on their own with nothing to do around; at least here you have all the views and restaurants all around you.

Casa Antigua is in a unique location with views across the bay toward the skyscrapers (especially beautiful at night) and then the old red-roofed city around it. We picked this place for the beautiful french doors and balcony and views. If you want a view, this is the spot! Rooftop patio was incredible, with tables and even a grill!! You can walk anywhere easily, including close to a microbrew and good salsa dance/music place around the corner on Alfaro y Eloy, the Plaza Bolivar for good restaurants, and the Tantalo hotel if you want to share a rooftop with others. Some of the most beautifully-restored buildings are across the street. But there are also some that are very dilapidated on this plaza. Just know that the area is not all lovely...yet. This place has many nice extras--coffee maker, a mini fridge, wine glasses, comfy sofa, hair dryer, air conditioning and a rainfall shower. Bring your own bathsoap and shampoo. We stayed in Cruces and it was great! Pablo set up a driver to pick us up at airport and he was prompt and friendly, good guy. The only reason I don't give this a 5 star is because Pablo just wasn't very friendly and seemed always in a hurry and didn't explan everything. We didn't come here to be best friends with our hotel host, but we had such fabulous service every where else we stayed in Panama, and that just makes someplace extra special. Stay here for the location, view and to stay someplace that reflects Casco Viejo history, not just a plain resort with typical hotel rooms.

Room Tip: air conditioner noise helped block out street noise at night. If you can, get a room with a balcony...

Close to all the hot stuff in the Casco (which BTW is far superior to Bella Vista or anywhere near Calle Uruguay), including the Luna's Castle bar next door. AC, rooftop terrace, decent restaurant downstairs, reasonably priced, sparkling clean. Manager Pablo was super sweet and helpful.

Our apartment was clean, well equipped (small kitchen, AC and good hot water!!) and had balcony with a wonderful view of the city/water and the roof tops of Casco Viejo. Pablo and Patricia were wonderful at helping us with taxis, and other necessities as they came up. We ate one night at the adjacent resto Ay Carmela! and had a very nice meal. It too has some nice views from the outside tables, and a cozy ambiance inside. They area was safe and convenient to walk around and explore. We will definately return! ;-)

Room Tip: Some apartments with the best views also overlook the street as well. The views are great but noise...

Casa Antigua was more than we expected. I travelled to Panama City with my mom and two sons (ages 9 and 6). We stumbled upon Casa Antigua online and because it was a condo in Casco Veijo (where my brother was staying) we booked it, almost sight unseen! From the first email interaction to the welcome to our ultimate departure, everything was perfect! The room we stayed in was spotless!!! It had 2 levels plus a roof top terrace! The view was spectacular!!! We could see all of Casco Veijo, the new city and the ocean! My sons couldn't believe we had 3 floors to ourselves.

Pablo, our host, was very friendly and accommodating. A small hiccup with our reservation was handled with no stress and with professionalism.

The bed was comfortable, a folding cot was provided without question, the bathrooms were very clean. The kitchen was well equipped and we were within walking distance of all of the sights we wanted to see in the historic area.

I would not hesitate to stay there again and would recommend it to anyone looking from a true Casco Veijo experience.
