Owner description: Designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, the Biomuseo is his only work in Latin America and the tropics. The building was designed to tell the story of how the isthmus of Panama rose from the sea, uniting two continents, separating a vast ocean in two, and changing the planet's biodiversity forever.

“Under Construction!!! maybe for years.”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Visited Panama in April 2014. This museum should have opened a year ago. It is still under construction. There were no tours of the construction site. but Obviously other reviewers were there and had tours. You may need to check that out. What you can see of the building as you drive by is a spectacular Frank Gehry Building. Per Taxi-Driver and other rumors on the street, money for the museum has been siphoned off from the project. it will be really sad if Panama cannot pull this off.
This museum is so important for Panama.
From my point of view it looks like this could be under construction for many years. Call before you go!!

“Gonna be a work of art”
Reviewed 7 May 2014 via mobile

This is going to be a very unusual and extra van museum when it's totally completed ...I love the winding staircase on the outside and the kaleidoscope of lovely colors and shapes and different pieces on the roof...really spectacular...it wasn't open as yet when I went in April

“This museum will be great”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

Disappointed that the museum was not yet open to the public, my husband and I arranged to pay $32US each to visit the construction site for a 3PM tour. We were able to view the outside of the museum, which is like nothing you have ever seen, as well as the five exhibits that have been completed. We used the audio devices and were helped by the museum staffers who were anxious to show off the museum. They could not have possibly been nicer to us. The completed exhibits, particularly one, are outstanding. They are hoping that the gift shop and the restaurant will soon be completed and that the museum will be open to the public. It will be an outstanding testament to the history of Panama.

“Excellent Panama Museum at Preview Event”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 via mobile

On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, we attended the "Noches De Museos" as it was our first opportunity to see the new Biomuseo on Amador Causeway. We used the bilingual audio devices and spent the entire evening touring the first phase of displays that are ready. The building is also very interesting and we were very fortunate to have a volunteer guide named Luis explain the subtle architectural details of the design intent of the facility. The history and information presented is excellent and we look forward to the museum opening soon and the eventual completion of the second wing and other areas. Highly recommend checking this out for the information on Panama history, geology, biology and more. The Panamarama video is amazing and is an impressive experience. There were many families with children at the event and the displays were very child friendly so the kids seemed to have a good time and to relate to the displays. The sculptures are also excellent showing the history of species and the importance of Panama as the crossroads of the Americas and also the contribution Panama made to world evolution. Very cool!
