“Enjoyed the Train Ride”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014

It was nice to take the train from the Pacific to the Atlantic in less than an hour. There was an open section on the train that you could stand and take pictures and just enjoy the air moving past you.

“Panama Canal Train Ride along the canal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

Summer 2014
A one way ticket for $25US will buy you a great ride on the Panama Canal Train from Panama City to Colon. The ride and views are great. The pace is easy. The new construction of the Canal Expansion is an additional treat to multitude of waterways and jungles and ships seen along the route. One can step outside the tourist car for an open-air ride to capture the sounds of the train and countryside. You will be given a small snack box as you exit the train at Colon. The problem is the town of Colon. You do not want to wonder around it at any time. The new Panamanian president has declared a restoration program for Colon, but that will take some time to achieve. The train does not head back to Panama City until the afternoon so make other (reputable) arrangements to get you back earlier or to take you to San Lorenzo fortification, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is nearby and is free to anyone wanting to explore it. It is not handicap friendly and does not have any staff on site. Take some water. And take a snack and drink for the poor friendly stray cats, too.

“Great view of the canal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

We loved it and he thought it was okay. We enjoyed being outside of the train, seeing the boats in the canal and Lake Gatun. Bring a sweater if you stay inside the car as it is well air conditioned. , you should give this a shot.

“Best way to travel coast to coast in Panama”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

We took the train from Panama to Colon after it was reccomended to us by our tour guide. The views are unique and the passenger car is spacious and comfortable. We had our tour guide drop us off at the station in Panama City and he was there waiting for us when we arrived in Colon. It is smart to do it like this, as Colon is not a safe area and there are no touristic activities there.

“A neat experience from Panama City to Colon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

We live here and took this train one day on an expat excursion. A lovely trip out to Colon. I really liked the interior of the cars, old world, green and brass and big windows to watch the landcape go by along forest and lake.
