“Close to downtown by less than $100 including brealfast”

Since colonial times, Panama has a long history of been a travel route where trade is conducted by people from all the world. The last 20 years the development of Panama city as a trade and business center is remarkable, the noise from skyscrapers building is nonstop in downtown. The streets are congested by cars and the hotels are usually full all year around. Every season is a good time to do business in Panama. Its hard to find a decent hotel for less than $100, for this reason this Country Inn in El Dorado neighborhood is a good option, buffet breakfast is included, also free internet and parking if you are brave enough to face the Panamanian traffic. Close to downtown for your business meetings and 100 Mts away of Corredor Norte highway to escape to less congested parts of the city. The hotel's infrastructure is deacyng but work is in progress. If you like Fridays, you can order from your room or just walk outside the hotel. I recommend nearby Deligourmet for delicious salads, sandwiches and desserts, or Lenhos y Carbon for a good steak.

Panama City was our first stop on our South American trip. After a day of visiting the Panama Canal, the historic city centre, and the Causeway, we were looking forward to getting some well deserved rest. The Country Inn was an excellent three star hotel, that had everything we were looking for. It was very clean, and comfortable. It had a pool that we couldn't use because it was being fixed. This wasn't a big deal because it was raining heavily by the time we checked in, so we couldn't have used it if we wanted to.

The room came with two comfortable queen sized bed, and a very spacious bathroom. Included in the room was a safe, as well as an iron/ironing board. The breakfast the next morning was one of the best we had during our 2 and a 1/2 week trip, and included eggs, pancakes, and even chicken fingers.

We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: The hotel has laundry facilities on each floor which was inexpensive to use (US$1.25 for either the...

I stayed at Country Inn & Suites for 3 nights during my visit to Panama. Due to a mistake with the booking on behalf of the company I work for, I had to stay in 2 different rooms. Luckily, the first one was a fantastic Suite! Really comfy bed with a separate living room and mini-kitchen which made me feel like home. At first I thought the room would be noisy as it was next to a main avenue but that was no problem at alla and I managed to have a good sleep. Free internet access in the room is a plus and thanks to that I was able to do some work while at the hotel. If you don't have a laptop, you can still go to the business room and use a computer there, quite useful too.

Then I moved to a single room, quite nice as well. However A/C wasn't cold enough and toilet needed a better cleaning. Still, I slept like a baby - beds in both rooms were absolutely comfortable - and that is all that I need in a hotel.

Another lovely fact: breakfast. It was buffet style, with a good variety of food to choose in a friendly environment equipped with 2 TV's and fairly quiet. All in all, I recommend this place for a business trip and a good spot away from city centre.

Room Tip: If you can go for a Suite go ahead, is a good price and you won't regret.

Great choice away from the traffic jams of other well known hotels in the capital city.
TGIF Friday's is annexed to it so you have a good choice of food.
If you want sushi, chinese, and grill restaurants are minutes away too.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable.
There was no TV remote in the room but they sent me a new one right away.
Continental breakfast included is fairly good.

Room Tip: ask for the renovated rooms

Stayed here for a week (since they charged my card for the entire stay upfront and wouldnt give a refund). Had no hot water in sink or shower. They repaired hot water in the sink, but shower had no hot water. They had a pretty good breakfast, but that doesnt make up for the lack in customer service. They also had construction going on at early hours of the morning, lots of dust and paint/plaster smells. I would definitely pay more money and stay at another hotel next time I'm in Panama.

We stayed here for one night before leaving the next day to go home. The hotel is located in a very busy area of the city within walking distance of plenty of mall-type stores and fast food places to eat. The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. Our room was a bit cramped with no view, just blocked out windows that you couldn't see out of, but since we were staying for only one night, we were fine with it. The bathroom was very spacious and the beds were comfortable....overall a nice place to stay.

For dinner that night, we wanted to go someplace where the locals go (and avoid the TGIF Fridays which is attached to the hotel), and got a great recommendation from the front desk staff. After dinner, we walked around the neighborhood a bit and it's a very busy, bustling area with a high-energy vibe. The next morning, before we left for the airport, we scoped the complimentary breakfast and it was substantial: cereal, pastries, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, etc. ... A lot of choices and all-you-can-eat.

Many Panamanians we encountered spoke a bit of English, including the hotel staff, but it really helps if you take the time to learn a few Spanish words and phrases to use while in Panama. The people are very friendly and really appreciate any efforts to speak their language. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to tour the canal, but we heard that's it definitely worth doing if you can.

I had found this hotel via Trip Advisor and when I made the reservation on the hotel's website, had to pay in advance to hold the rate. However, when we checked out, that's when we were actually charged on our card for the room, so it can be confusing and seem like you're paying twice. Before we paid, I called my credit card company to make sure that I hadn't been charged when I originally made the reservation. So even though the online reservation system will say that you need to pay in advance and you have to enter your credit card info, that seems to be just for reserving the room and to charge you if you cancel, which is not allowed when getting the online rate. (Since I had my laptop with me, I also checked all of my credit card records via the credit card's website before we checked out, and sure enough, no charges had been made ahead of time.)

My first hint was when our local tour guide asked why we chose this location over the County Inn and Suites on the Canal...This hotel's condition and furnishings are dated for American standards and the management appears to recognize this with the amount construction going on. The construction workers seem to be very energetic, (as they started work as the sun rose between 6:30 am and 7:00 am, removing tile or concrete with a hammer and chisel...tap...tap...tap...) If you are staying just above the breakfast area, you will not need to worry about the construction noise as it will be drowned out from the traffic noise that comes in through the broken window.

Overall the bathroom we had lacked a working shower head and a fan to remove the humidity. Also, be careful in the tub as ours was very slick.

On the upside, the pool area was clean. The rooms, while dated and needing attention, were clean. Breakfast was also very plentiful, although some of the food appeared to have some common traits with the food from the TGI Fridays next door. Security in this area also appeared to be good.

A good evening meal can be found at the Grill (can't remember the name) on he other side of the Chinese Casino. Service was very good, reasonably priced and came with a few good smiles.
