A pretty good place to have a short stay in Panama City - particularly if you are flying in/out. One of the biggest advantages was the free minibus transfer from the international airport to the hotel. Bearing in mind it's about a 35 minute drive it's a good money saver. It goes to 3 hotels from the same chain but they are all relatively close together (NB - the Cresta Inn isn't as good as Costa having stayed at both). You can also take the minibus service to shopping malls and the bus station at certain times.
The rooftop pool isn't that big, but offers some decent views of the city skyline and is a good spot to sunbathe. Our room was very spacious and decent value. It wasn't as clean as you would expect a hotel to be though - quite a few small ants around the bathroom.
The staff were not very impressive, although this isn't confined to just this hotel in Panama. Desk staff were very surly, regardless of whether conversation was initiated in Spanish or English. They just weren't interested in their guests. Contrastingly, all the taxi drivers we came across in Panama City were extremely chatty and friendly.. maybe that pays better??
Breakfast was a buffet which varied drastically in the two days we were there (pancakes one day, some beef stew type dish the next), but with cereal and toast available. The dinner menu was fairly varied (Panamanian, past dishes, US style food..) and the food was alight. Again though, polite service with a smile just doesn't really happen.
The location is OK - fairly central but without much going on in the immediate vicinity. Best to take a taxi to restaurants or eat in the hotel.

Yes, the hotel is older but worth the money!! We had a celean and wonderful room with air conditioned. The rooftop view was amazing for the location its in and the roof top pool to take a swim was wonderful with a view. The daily breakfast was good and the shuttle to and from the hotel was a PLUS!!!

A bit rundown, shabby hotel topped with lackluster service. On the sixth floor where the "wonderful pool" is located, staff had broomed the floor and left the dirt at the access door to the terraza and the pool area, it remained all day. No attention to detail. Worst restaurant ever and the breakfast offered is inedible (hard arepas and empanadas, overcooked eggs, nasty white bread and plastic cheese for melting). AC ineffectual, they clean with chemicals, etc... No value for the money, really. One positive, the view from the terraza is worthwhile.

Room Tip: To leave the hotel at night you´ll find men sleeping in the street and prostitutes working openly. F...

For 66$ I stayed in a clean, air conditioned room that was in a safe district in the city. Cabs were at my doorstep, a free delicious breakfast awaited me every morning and the nightly dips in the rooftop pool was the icing on the cake. The staff spoke English and they were very helpful in every way possible.

Room Tip: Stay on the forth floor and up.

Ok, the hotel is old and needs refurbishing, but if you are ok with that, then the hotel is actually very good. The staff at the reception is very helpfull and provides you directions for -let's say- the supermarket or ways to walk (or not to walk). Furthermore, the hotel has free transportation to and from the big malls in Panama city and has a free transfer to/from the airport. The rooms we had were all very big with shower and bath. The swimmingpool is small, but the view is great. So take a splash in the evening is a nice experience.

I stayed here on my first trip to panama...24 hour bar and restaurant meant i did not have to look for a place to eat after a day of tours. they turned off the air conditioner and hot water when i went out and i had to ask the desk to turn it on. when i left iwas charged tice for the shuttle to get to the airport i could have just stepped in street and got a taxi. the clerk intentiionally cheated me..

i met interesting people in restaurant a pilot from the venezuelan air force, a colombian traveling salesman. if you are an american who wants to meet other people than americans this is an economical, safe place to stay.

This place is a decent value. You can't expect the Taj Mahal for sixty six bucks a night. When we first entered our room we were hit by the overpowering smell of fruity mothballs. I could not stand it, so I grabbed a plastic bag and wrapped the "air fresheners"in it and the smell became bearable. The pool was vacant whenever we were there so that was nice. However getting out of the pool I discovered the steps are VERY slippery. I'm a little bruised... Any way the food, as in most of Panama, was just okay. Rather expensive go the quality. We ordered some shrimp ceviche for a snack it was served with one package of 4 saltine crackers. When we asked for another pack we were charged .93 plus tax for one flippin small pack of crackers! Last time we bought anything in there!
