Marriott is a brand, and it has to deliver the same quality service all around the world. That is what is known as the "Brand promise"....not quite at the Multiplaza hotel.
I've been there before, and my stay and work sessions (two different types of requirements) were pefectly matched.
Not this time:
My room: can't argue on how clean it was...., wonderfull bed, etc... but it was simply impossible to sleep with the noicy AC!!, when it was working....., because, somehow, after an hour or so...it turned off.... and then....temperature in the room wen't up. Two nights fighting against the AC.., what did I prefer? sleepless night because of a noicy AC ? or sleepless night because the room was to warm....? tough choice!. Marriot also has a Brand promise around the food. Breakfast was really basic. scramble eggs, bread, cereal.. etc I mean there is a lack of originality. And everywhere around the world, Marriot delivers a superb breakfast abundance of choices.
I can also say, because I had to work in the hotel for 2 days, that also had the opportunitty of eating lunch..... again a miss. Lack of choices, EVERYTHING was done with flour, so if you're on a diet, there is nothing you can eat.... not quite..., two lousy salads....
As for the service in their conference rooms: also presented a few gaps.....worked there for two days: 1st day: they were mounting the place....one our before we had to begin..., the AC on that room had two choices: freeze (one part of the room, or sweat... on the other half).. so it was only a matter of playing chairs and moving around the room, in order to get an appropiate working temperature.... also the light was not even... some places had more, others had less, but yoy know?, it didn´t matter, cause you were moving around the room anyways in order to get the temperature you best prefered....
on the second day: they moved us from that conference room (not because they wanted to improve their service, only because they had a lot of events, and that room had been rented to another company)... without previously giving us notice.... so, many people entered to another conference, before realizing we weren't there!.
when Marriott decided to move us..., they only thought about tables and chairs....they simply forgot about the important work we have been doing on the first day, which was written on flipcharts.... when I asked for them.... a say what? face, came from the waiter who was servicing the meeting.....one flipchart was never found.....
at the end of my stay, I asked for the comments box, wrote a long letter, in order for them to improve, because I'm a Marriott loyal customer..., and when introducing the note to the box, it was full....and told the recepcionist ." you must have a lot of "suggestions!"., and she responded.....: NO, THEY ONLY EMPTY THE SUGGESTION BOX EVERY SIX MONTHS: ...
And that is the reason I decided to use this forum.... travelers.... just note that it's going to take a while for them to notice their flaws....
