Words, "Classic ole style typical" hotel. I like to stay at the Las Vegas because of it's older style, outside/open hallways, close to "the action", 2 good eating places Pomodora (has "court yard" dinning in the L shape of the hotel in addition to inside seating) & the Wine Bar, either side of the lobby entrance. Rooms have been updated including a new elevator circa 2000. It is located in the up-scale El Cangrejo barrio convenient to Casino, restaurant/cafes, super mercados, shopping, etc. Lots of upgrades to the rooms including electronic safes. Even with the age of the Las Vegas I like staying there. No spa, fitness center or swimming pool, but there is an internet room on the mezzanine level with 3 or 4 computers & a social area on the 10th (top) floor.

I will give the Las Vegas props that the window AC units kept our room cool. Other than that, wouldn't stay there again.

Very noisy. They have the slatted window panes that you crank, so it lets the street noise in. The AC unit is helpful in drowning some of that out, but wasn't sufficient for our 5 am Sunday morning wake-up call from someone at street level playing music very loud.

To top it off, it is on the edge of the red light district. Good location for someone who wants to hit the casino, hire a prostitute and party. Not good for a family trying to catch some sleep.

Arrived 10pm, left next morning at 9am, so for 1 short night stay it was bearable. Very large but basic room (apartment with kitchenette), cleanliness left much to be desired, noisy room overlooking main road. Some staff hardly spoke a word of English and luggage kept overnight in storage (at small charge) the next day was opened, nothing missing though. Upside: free parking, free Wifi, central location and much better than expected breakfast.

As others have said here, you mostly get what you pay for with this place. The location is great, but the hotel itself is dated and noisy. Still, not terrible for the price compared to other hotels in Panama City.

I found many of the staff to be friendly if you took the effort to speak with them (in Spanish). But the front desk people, especially those working in the evening, seem to make a point of being unfriendly. I've never seen anything quite like it. One evening I was trying to clarify something with the desk person (who was not being helpful) and she said in a scolding tone "I'm going to repeat what I just said...." Wow, what's with the nastiness? And I had been a very good customer.

Please, management, do something like put your people through a customer service course.

You have to ask about everything. My phone didn't work so when I asked, they activated it! Don't know why it had to be activated. I took the breakfast included package and you have to ask for a ticket for the restaurant each day. I had to find that out from the waitress in the restaurant who was very accommodating and took the time to explain to me how that worked. Also, the AC unit is timed and if you don't turn it all the way to maximum, it will turn off automatically. Housekeeping turns off the AC every day when they clean so if you are gone all day, your room will be very warm (which might not be bad they seem to want to conserve energy).

I know its a different cluture and they might do things differently but there are certain things they could do to accommodate better.

Other than that, my room was clean, had marble floors that made it cooler.

We arrived at Las Vegas after 10pm and like some other reviewers also mentioned, the "receptionist" was not interested in us. It felt like she was doing us a favour rather than her job by checking us in. The whole place is definitely set in the 1970's. The only good thing about the room was the bathroom - I'd very relunctantly been to worse bathrooms! Oh! And the internet.

Thank goodness we were only staying for 1 night. The burglar bars on the windows are definitely ominous. I would not stay here as a solo woman traveller. We deposited our backpacks for 1 night with them. Although the bags were locked up in a secure room, someone had rummaged through my bag.

Room Tip: The website is very misleading. Dont stay here!
