Las Vegas Hotel Suites
Ranked #86 of 115 Hotels in Panama City
Reviewed 16 January 2012

I agree with the writer Lobearny ... Las Vegas Apart-Hotel is a great place to stay. It is located immediately adjacent to the Veneto Hotel/Casino in the heart of the business district of Panama City. The hotel is older, quite dated, and is geared more toward adults. There is no swimming pool or upscale ammenities. Children will probably find the place quite boring.

We are currently in Panama City after staying 3 weeks in the David area with friends and family. I have wanted to stay at the Las Vegas Apart Hotel in the past, but we normally stay with family here ... but this trip we decided we wanted some time to ourselves.

First off ... I want to be clear that Las Vegas Apart Hotel has been here for quite some time, and the suites are quite dated and old. The furnishings are simple and plain. The beds are also rather plain ... but the matresses are comfortable.

There is no swimming pool or gym or other ammenities people traveling might want ... but having said that, the place has charm, is very secure, and the staff keeps everything quite clean. You will find the staff helpful and friendly.

The sleeping areas all have air conditioning, but the kitchens and bathing areas only have window ventilation. The kitchens have small electric burners for cooking, a refrigerator, a microwave, dishes, cups, glasses, and utensils ...there is no coffee maker ... but with the cost of food in most of the local restaurants being so inexpensive, you may find it difficult to feel much like cooking.

Each room has an electronic safe, and you must use your room key to activate the elevator. There are security personel in the lobby.

Many of the rooms are are over the street area below, so if you are a light sleeper you may want to bring earplugs.

The local restaurants are plentiful and the food is good. On a personal note, restaurants in the the Veneto attempt to be more upscale, but their prices are quite high for Panama, and seemed to be aimed at tourists who do not know how to leave the hotel.

Room Tip: Great for adults or families not looking for many ammenities.

Thank you for your thorough review.

Our staff was happy to see that you found them helpful and friendly. The hotel is family operated and we put a lot of effort into selecting our staff.

I'm happy to tell you that we are already under way to modernize the rooms, which includes better sound proofing and addressing other guest comments.

We do have a nice gym on the third floor, we must have forgotten to point this out to you. Best regards.

This is a great place to stay in Panama City. The value and location are excellent plus the staff is courteous and helpful. I had read some poor reviews on this site and almost did not stay but gave it a shot anyhow and am happy I did so. You have to come to this place expecting good value location and service and understanding that its not a Ritz Carlton. If that is the case you will enjoy it very much.

We were quite impressed the hotel. We expected a room and got basically a small condo. It had a kitchen, laundry area, living room, small balcony and bedroom with two comfortable queen beds. The shower was nice and the water was warm, which is a plus here. The people at the desk were friendly, the elevators operated with a key card, up and down, which is nice, and given the location, the noise level was reasonable. The A/C worked well and was quiet. For the price paid we were very pleased.

Room Tip: The higher the better....

My arrival at the hotel was smooth. A valet attendant [a soft-spoken regular chap – not a “Fancy Uniform” type] – greeted me and took my bag inside. The Front Desk also greeted me, took my Credit Card information, I was shown up to my room – and there I was, feeling very comfortable and happy and serene. The hotel was nice. Downstairs is the Italian restaurant -. Pomodoro. It has a small enclosed dining room [for when it is drizzling] – and a large open dining area with trees and flowers– and is arguably the best Italian food in town [the Tiramisu is World Class]. Also in the hotel is The Wine Bar. A place for wine lovers, the Wine Bar has more than 300 wine selections as well as cheese, pizza [The Small Hawaiian pizza with a glass –or two- of a good Chianti, is my choice]., and an in-house live music trio.

Room Tip: Call ahead and tell the front desk you want a NICE room. They are very accomodating

This hotel boasts one of best locations in Panama City for a terrific value! It is also the home of one of the city's 4-star restaurants, Pomodoro. If you do nothing else, be sure to have breakfast at the Pomodor, with its fresh-baked breads and quiche to die for! When our daughter stayed there, she got a large suite for her family (three children, two adults), and it had all the amenities they needed. Even the small rooms have kitchen area and refrigerator. There are much finer hotels in beautiful Panama City, but not at this price.

We appreciated the location of this hotel, being close to everything, but this definitely comes at a price. The street noise was very loud, as was the restaurant noise (courtyard tables with open hallways/vented bathroom windows) on weekends. If you choose this hotel, ask for an upper level room, which may help.

Both restaurants connected with this hotel were wonderful. The wine bar is great for getting an appetizer and relaxing. There are also many good restaurants within walking distance, as well as the huge casino. Safe neighborhood with lots going on.

Room Tip: Higher floors may have less street/courtyard noise.

stayed here in August, used the web site for the reservation, but called to confirm anyway... it's good to be safe.....

All in all good value even at $75 a night, right across the street from the Veneto.... prime location

Room Tip: used the online reservation system but call the hotel a few days later to confirm
