There is a reason why Patty's Casitas is consistently rated so high. Patty and Rudy make you feel personally welcome and taken care of. This is from a somewhat nervous traveler who is picky and asks lots of questions. They are the reason We are writing our first review. They do not disappoint. Our flight was late leaving Atlanta but they were right there to meet us. Patty gave us her personalized tour of the condo. It is as well equipped and as comfortable as home - no hotel/motel living here. We chose Amador because of the green space, views from the condo, elevator and two rooftops for viewing the city from the 7th floor plus knowing every thing in Casco Viejo and Marbella were only a quick (and reasonable) cab ride away. The bonus was the causeway going to the three small islands where you can dine watching the sun set over a marina of boats and the Panama City skyline. Once we had Rudy's city tour we felt comfortable finding our way around to explore. And there is so much to see, more than enough to make us want to come back. All the canal tours we took (3) were very different and unique. Miraflores Locks give you the historical perspective and a step back and look view. Gatun Locks gives you an up close and personal look as if you could reach out and touch. We took the train ride there, saw the locks, Colon and Fort San Lorenzo. Doing the partial transit (Miraflores and San Pedro Miguel) takes you from spectator, with a knowledge of the way it works, to a player getting close to the ships and tugs. All our tours were arranged thru Patty and Rudy before we left home. Rudy loves his Panama and tours are never canned or boring. If it is the millionth time he has said it, it still sounds new. Maybe he looks at it thru the eyes of a newcomer. We've never been as at home or as excited to see new and different things as we were with Patty and Rudy in Panama.

We stayed with Patty and Rudy when they were in Rome and because of the best time there, there was no doubt that we would stay with them again. We did all our tours with Rudy. We stayed at the condo and it had everything one could ask. The location was close enough to other activities for walks. One word of advise that Rudy gave me. If you see the windows up in the taxis that means they have A/C in the car. NEVER get in the taxi without settling on a price. We did this trip a few years ago and I was not involved with TA at that time.

Thanks for remembering us...this surely brings back memories;-) Rome was fantastic and we had a great time catering to our B&B guests for 6 years and now we have reached 6 years in Panama too...time flies but we LOVE every moment of it and surely having all our great guests to welcome and share this wonderful country with is a blessing:-)

You were actually one of our first guests in Panama and at that time only our Amador condo was running...you have to come and check out our Casco Viejo properties which are beautiful too...this neighborhood has changed so much and you being the keen photographer you are would love to capture all the new changes!

Wishing you many more happy travels J.

Patty has several types of accommodations (B&B, Studio apartment, and a 2 bedroom condo). We stayed in the studio and loved it. It's a beautiful place and is equipped with everything you need... and I mean everything. The studio is located in Casco Viejo. We did feel safe here and had no problem walking to dinner locations at night. The price is fair and is in a good location to explore the old town. Keep in mind the room is located on 3rd floor and there is no lift. We were there for 5 nights and got to know the area fairly well. Here are a few tips: 1) Da Vinci is an excellent small restaurant close to the studio with homemade pastas at reasonable prices. 2) The fish market is a 10 minute walk and is well worth it. Buy some fresh lobsters, large prawns, etc. and cook them in the studio. 3) There is an American owned sandwich shop (also a 10 minute walk) called Super Gourmet. Excellent sandwiches and coffee.
4) Patty's husband is a local guide and is very personable. 5) The 1/2 day boat tour through the canal locks was expensive ($135.00 each, including lunch), and it was just OK. However, we found it very worthwhile to take a taxi out to the Miraflores locks and museum. You can watch the big ships go through from a platform, and the museum is excellent. Either experience will cost you at least double to return to the city by taxi as it did to reach the venue. We ended up walking out to the main road in each case and snagging a taxi from there...much cheaper.

Room Tip: The 2 bedroom condo looked like a good, reasonable option if there are 2 couples traveling together.

I plan my trips very carefully and do a ton of research on where to stay, what to do, etc. So making the choice to rent the Casco Viejo studio apartment came after lots of research! My research did not let me down - it was FABULOUS! There is a reason it is top rated here on Trip Advisor. All communication with Patty was informative and timely. We arranged to be picked up through them, and our driver was waiting for us when we walked off the plane. We were greeted by Patty and Rudy at the apartment and easily got oriented to it.

The apartment had EVERYTHING we'd need. From a full kitchen to a safe to extra toiletries, NOTHING was left out. The apartment was immaculate and spacious, especially for a studio. Very nicely done and a huge, comfy bed too.

Location, location, location. This is the main reason I chose this apartment. I have made the mistake of using Priceline or something similar for accommodations in a big city before, and got put in crappy areas, so I knew I needed to choose a place in the best area. I wanted to be in Casco Viejo, to be able to walk around, be close to lots of restaurants and be in the thick of it all. It didn't disappoint. We walked around all the time, and everything was safe, even at night. There is a big police presence here as well. There is a lot of construction going on around the area, but we had no problem getting around by foot, and also were not at all disturbed by any noise from it.

We arranged more transfers with Patty and everything was perfect and smooth. I would absolutely recommend renting from her again, and would love to come back and stay in her lovely studio apartment!

Room Tip: The studio apartment is in the perfect location to eateries and walking around Casco. You can't...

I consider myself incredibly lucky to have found Patty's when looking for a place for my mother and I to stay while she visited me in Panama. Not only was the studio apartment centrally located in Casco Viejo but it was beautiful! Brand new appliances, comfortable and stylish furniture, and completely spotless. The check-in process also could not have been easier. Patty and her husband were actually on a rare vacation when I checked in and out, so Patty's father handled everything. It could not have been easier, and afterwards he gave me a walking tour of Casco so I would have a better idea of the area. The apartment also came with a cell phone for our use as needed which was great as my mom's cell phone ended up not working here.
Patty also arranged for all our pick-up and drop off needs at various airports, all while she was on vacation. She was friendly, kind and very responsive to our needs. I would 100% recommend staying here to anyone, and I look forward to staying there again myself.

My husband and I stayed in the studio apartment in Casco Viejo for 9 days earlier this month and we were very happy with the accommodations and the service. Patty and Rudy made everything - the booking process, airport transfers, check-in, and check-out - friendly, smooth, and easy. The studio itself is chic, quiet, secure, and well equipped. It was a very peaceful and relaxing place to come home to at the end of each day. If we ever had any questions, all we had to do was e-mail or call Patty, and she responded in minutes. The city and canal tour that we took with Rudy was interesting and enlightening - he's a very knowledgeable guide. Patty and Rudy have a lot of training and experience in the tourism business and they really know how to look after their guests. When we return to Panama, we will definitely book with Patty's Casitas again.

Room Tip: The studio is large and airy - spacious enough for a couple to feel comfortable.

My husband and I stayed at the Amador condo the first week of April 2013, Our experience was nothing but positive, from the moment I inquired on booking the condo, to arranging tours with Patty and Rudy, to being picked up from the airport, the checking in and being acquainted with the condo and area, as well as every detail during our stay being looked after and attended to. The Amador condo is in a wonderful location for those who like to be close to the hustle and bustle of a big city but prefer to have a quieter setting. The Amador condo is located beside the entrance to the Pacific Ocean side of the canal where you can view ships entering and exiting the canal from the roof terrace of the condo. The views from the roof terrace are wonderful and we enjoyed many afternoons relaxing there with a few cold beverages. 2 restaurants are within a 5 minute walk away from the condo as well as a small convenience store. A large grocery store and more restaurants are a $3 cab ride away.. cabs are easily attainable.
We enjoyed 3 tours which we booked with Rudy,, the Embera Indian Tribe, The Panama Canal partial transit and The Real Panama.. Both Patty and Rudy are very knowledgeable and can answer any question that you have about Panama, they also speak perfect English, as well as other languages. Patty has covered every detail in the condo and you will find every luxury that you could possibly need during your stay. The condo was very clean and it is also very secure. There is 24 hour security at the building.

I highly recommend booking one of Patty's properties if you are looking to stay in Panama. You truly will not be disappointed.
