We stayed one night at this motel, the people there are very nice and friendly.

The unit itself was clean and nice.

The motel itself is very clean and well maintained, inside and out. The furnishings are a little dated however they are in good shape. There are some nice touches with the microwave, refrigerator, etc.
The reason for the average rating is that we slept very badly because of noise from trains which ran very frequently, all night! Also we both developed heat rashes from the pillows - the rest of the bedding wasn't a problem so either the pillowcases had been washed in something different or it was the pillows themselves. We found wrapping the pillows in towels solved the problem.

Dear 4states,

Thanks for leaving your review and feedback regarding your recent stay with us. Our guests comments are very important and provide opportunities for us to improve the experience of the next guest. We're pleased you found your room to be clean and you appreciated the amenities we offer. We pride ourselves on making sure our guests get a good nights sleep so we're unhappy that you had such a difficult night.

Pan Am Railway is something we have to contend with at Sleepy Time. They run a few (3) trains per night under 10MPH on a depressed track over 100 yards away. We normally get very few negative comments about them (please see other reviews). Unfortunately you requested the room on the end nearest the track. Had we known about your sensitivity to noise we definitely would have suggested a different room.

It was also very unfortunate that you both experienced "heat rash" when using our pillows. We have always used only perfume & dye free detergents for our linens and towels. We've never run up against this problem before so are at a loss to come up with a cause for the rash.

Thanks for giving us, a small independent motel a try. We hope you might consider staying with us again if you're in our area. We'll supply the ear plugs!

We heard about Sleepy Time through a trip advisor review. We have stayed there several times during our daughter's college years at Bates. It became our home away from home. Now that she's graduated we are glad to share this gem with the world. The rooms are large, the bed comfortable, and it has everything you could want including plates, cups, wine glasses, a microwave and fridge. Mark and Lynn, the owners and hosts, are gracious and friendly. Everything is clean and spotless. If your lucky enough to score one of these rooms on a parents week end, you've probably scheduled it well in advance. This is a great place to stay with easy access to the Maine Turnpike. Maine is "the way life should be" and the Sleepy Time is a perfect reflection of this.

Room Tip: All rooms have the same amenities. The only difference is the bed configuration.

This is a lovely small motel in an easy to access residential neighborhood (not in a loud, busy service plaza) with special features (100 acres with walking trails) and touches (wine glasses, Maine cabin motif). Friendly, personal service from start to finish. Everything was in good shape, nicely appointed and SO CLEAN. It really shows that the owners care about their business and their guests.

Wow! What a great place to rest your head. We were fortunate enough to come across Sleepy Time late Saturday evening (8pm) called the motel, and Lynn indicated she has something for the 3 of us - 2 adults & 1 infant. They held our room for about 20 mins until we arrived. We were greeted by Lynn and shown to our room (#1). We choose this motel off the trip advisor reviews, and like many others were not a bit dissapointed. Although definitely retro in feel, the room and it's amenities were exactly what we needed. Spotlessly clean - new flat screen tv - comfy bed. Nice touches including shampoo, conditioner and lotion in the bathroom with fabulous towels! Also, paper plates, cups, cutlery, napkins and wine glasses in the small kitchen area, so much more than you'd expect to find in a typical motel. The grounds are just as lovely and well maintained. Everything is very cozy, clean and welcoming. We had a great 1 night stay and wish we would have found them sooner. Lovely motel owners and a great piece of property. Would definitely stay here again when visiting the area.
