Very nice two hours spent there enjoying history, nature, and the ambiance provided by the running water of the old water mill.

“Nice, minor issue”
Reviewed 23 January 2014

Good place to go for some Maine history. Be forewarned, the floor map they give you is confusing -- as in the floor numbers do not match the elevator floor numbers.
They have a free coat room to hang your coat up while you explore the museum.

“Good for most ages (maybe not older teens)”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Maine State Museum in Augusta is surprisingly good. Lots of well presented exhibits. But also a complete 3 story water operated lumber mill that was added after the building was finished by digging down. Well worth visiting. And then walk next door and take a look inside the state house.

“Best museum ever!!”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

I have visited this museum many times over the years. It is fun and interesting for all ages. Highly recommend. You can expect to spend at least 2 hours or more. Lots to see and some exhibits are interactive.
