Firefly Farms is a fantastic creamery and market. The owners and staff are happy to talk about cheese and explain the nuances in a very unpretentious way. They just love cheese, and wine! We ended up with a variety of cheeses and a few wine pairings, really wonderful. Make sure you stop by on your way in and out of town!

The cheeses here are out of this world! They make everything on site, and they are very proud to explain the process to the customer. They will also give you a mini tour.

Many of their cheese are now sold at Whole Foods in the DC area.

The goat cheeses are made from the goat milk of local goats from near-by farms.

'We tastes wines here, had sndwiches, and also bought cheeses and other gourmet items.

This Creamery is worth the stop! If you like cheeses, you have to visit this place!

This small cheese factory/market is an unexpected gem in the middle of nowhere. Goat cheese is obviously the main thing, but along the few stands are wonderful gourmet items that go well with cheese. Ask the attendants for wine pairings and they will be happy to help. We got a very good Washington State Riesling (Kung Fu Girl) and an Argentinian Malbec (Santa Julia) to go with Cabra La Mancha (goat), Fiscalini Aged Cheddar, and an aged Gruyere, all wonderful cheeses. We got a tangerine fig balsamic sauce to dip bread in that was amazingly delicious. I could go on and on. If you are going to Deep Creek Lake for some time off, stop here, and you will not be disappointed. Also stop at the bakery one block away (Mountain Flour). We got this bread with olives that was the perfect companion for the cheese and the balsamic sauce. The sweet rols (sticky and cinnamon) are also very good at this country bakery.
