Best place to learn to sail -- supportive, clear and patient instructors -- women teaching women. No Captain Bly's in the mix...

I feel very sad for all the ladies, that had a bad experience. I can honestly say, that I a wonderful time. Jennifer our instructor was wonderful. I learned so much and had a great experience all around. As a bonus Jennifer is a first class cook and a very cool gal.

As a Pastor I need to warn you to beware of Womanship. One of the troops from our church schedules and paid for a trip with Womanship only to have this company refuse to take responsibility is filling out the proper insurance forms. Because the forms were not filled out, the trip could not be approved and was cancelled. Womanship HAS STILL NOT RECTIFIED THIS SITUATION AND RETURNED THE $1400 to the little girls in the troop that worked so hard for the money. SHAME ON YOU WOMANSHIP!!! Be careful...do not get involved with this company.

We had excellent instructors (Bob and Brian) who taught us what we wanted to learn and had infinite patience. Ours was not a usual class. We went out for dinner and drinks in Annapolis each night. Our instructors were actually not scheduled to teach our class and subbed in at the last minute. We were very happy because Bob and Brian tended to be flexible and were not set on covering the curriculum which didn't really include what we wanted to learn. There were three students and we were basically at the same level. We were provided with a lot of opportunity for hands-on learning. The rating is for our instructors.

We want to let all in the sailing community know that you have a shark in your midst. Womanship.com, a worldwide sailing company that professes it can lead anyone on a learning adventure contracted with our group of 11 and 12 year old Girl Scouts on the Chesapeake Bay in June, 2012. We spent time coming to an agreed upon itinerary that led to us putting down a $1400.00 deposit on May 2nd. Since that time, Womanship suspended communication and did not respond to any of our appeals to get information regarding our upcoming trip. Our six Girl Scouts had to sell thousands of cookies to fund this trip, only to be disappointed and be left ashore. To add insult to injury, they continue to ignore all requests for a refund. If our experience is any indication of their business practices, do not spend any time or money on this company! The sailing community needs to spread the word! Don’t believe us? Look on TripAdvisior, Yahoo Travel, Cruisers Forum, Yelp, Sailing School Reviewer to name a few!!!

The Womanship Sailing School has taught Girl Scouts for more than 20 years. We deeply admire and respect the Girl Scouts program. Most of us were scouts ourselves. Not unexpectedly, the statement that “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place” resonates in the Womanship mission that nurtures personal growth, leadership, collaboration and protection of the natural environment in a hands-on, interactive environment

Womanship has brought together women from diverse backgrounds and countries in sailing journeys of discovery and self fulfillment, in harmony with nature—for three decades. Our Young Womanship program extends the same opportunity to 7th-12th graders, and over the years we have worked successfully with thousands of Girl Scouts, schools, and community groups.

In sharp contrast, a series of unfortunate events complicated and changed a Young Womanship course for Girl Scout Troop #804. Per usual, we anticipated smooth sailing as we began working to design a custom course that would meet their specific goals. After many months of collaboration, we were thrilled to receive their enthusiastic approval for the course that we had planned together.

As we began to finalize preparations, along with Troop #804’s enthusiasm, their number of participants increased. Because such changes have an impact on safety and on our standards of student-centered instruction, we took the time to carefully plan, and then implement, appropriate steps to accommodate the additional enthusiasm (securing a larger vessel, adding an instructor, completing extensive paperwork, etc.)

Unfortunately during this time, a dangerous storm (derecho) also intervened. As with any outdoor-based activity, Womanship Sailing School programs can be impacted by weather and other circumstances beyond our control. In this case it meant that we were unable to fulfill Troop #804’s wishes in a timely manner. It was with heartfelt disappointment that we then returned their course tuition.

We deeply regret the unfortunate string of events that stalled Troop 804’s Young Womanship trip. Given the diversity of interests we serve and the multi-faceted nature of what we do, we work hard to meet every customer’s needs and desires - as long as we do not lower the benefits to our students of the high-quality level of instruction, experience, safety and preparedness to which we have dedicated the past three decades.
