The State House Inn is my favorite for visits to Annapolis. Its quaint and quiet. The front porch is so cozy and peaceful to sit in the evenings with some wine or coffee and a computer in the morning. It backs onto main street and everything is within walking distance! The ladies that work the Inn are all so friendly and attentive. They really go that extra mile to make you feel right at home. I definitely suggest staying here.

Despite reading all of the negative reviews regarding the State House Inn, this place is one of the best. The rooms are spacey for any number of guests small or large and clean. Cleanliness is one of the most important aspects of any hotel and this one goes above and beyond. The Inn is located in a great place also. Located in down town Annapolis, it's within walking distance of the bay and the Naval Academy. I would certainly say this is the best Inn to stay at if you are wishing to visit Annapolis. The manager Carath is amazing and so helpful! She is very personable and if any problem arises, she is always there to help.

We stayed on a Wed & Thurs nights mid-May, with no big events going on around Annapolis...so a pretty quiet visit overall. I booked on the phone the month before and when I checked my reservation on line the week prior to our trip, I saw that our room showed a vacancy the 2nd night of our stay...I called and they fixed it. I was told we could def check in anytime after noon. When we arrived at just past 1pm we were told our room wouldn't be ready until 4ish. When returned to check in I noticed the carpeted steps to the 2nd floor were dirty and hadn't been vacuumed. Our room, the Queen Anne was spacious, but had a slight musty smell and decor wise it was average. The jacuzzi tub was nice, but there's areas of more then one messy caulk job, and some stains (walls/curtains) in the bathroom area. Some of the furniture was in need of repair, but other then that the bed was comfy. The hallway dorm fridge was pretty clean and useful. the area where you can borrow dishes/glasses was a mess...the laundry cleaning closets were in disarray during our stay as well. The location to the waterfront area is prime, but there are lots of places with good-exellent reviews within walking distance that may be nicer. The front patio area with tables/chairs was an awesome place to unwind morning, noon & night! We ate meals, snacks (early & quite late) and soaked up the view! When we checked out on our 3rd day we noticed the carpets had never been vacuumed! A good deal, but with so many choices...

We appreciate you staying as a guest of our Inn and value your feedback. We agree that our location is fantastic, with each room having a view of either Main Street, the State Building, and our King George Suite has a great view of the Chesapeake Bay! Our building is older, just about 300 years, and we do our best to keep up and take care of such a great Inn in this amazing location, right downtown. Truly, you can't find a better accommodation, with our rates and amenities (like the private patio with views of the State Building). We do send out email confirmations as soon as the reservation is made, which is important to our guests, as well as to the Inn to ensure the right reservation has been made and all our details for parking, and our check in times are noted (check-in is at 3pm/Check-out is at 12noon) We always encourage guests that if they wish to arrive early, they are more than welcome to. If the room is ready we will check you in right away, otherwise we are more than happy to store your bags in our office giving you the opportunity to walk around downtown, which is right out the front door!

We recently stayed in the Lord Calvert room with our two Shelties. What a beautiful room, way more so than most dog friendly rooms at other establishments! It's tastefully decorated, has a very comfy king sized bed, a two-person whirlpool tub, free internet, and plush robes. We could not have asked for more! Careth, the innkeeper, was so sunny and friendly, and truly enjoyed us making use of the beautiful porch every morning for breakfast, which we got just around the corner from Chick and Ruth's Delly. The location was really amazing, and it was a quick walk to anywhere of significance in town. The website photos don't do justice to this room, and Careth informed us that they have a new website coming in just a few weeks. The room was immaculate as well. Will we stay there again? You'd better believe we will!

Room Tip: If you have a dog, the Lord Calvert room is a good choice, as it is on the main floor, and is a straight shot down the hall and outside. You are able to hear the street noise some during the day, but it was very quiet at night.

What a great place to stay! The Queen Anne room is large and comfortable, with a huge Jacuzzi tub and a shower. It was quiet and accommodating for the entire time I was there. The armoire in the room was so big that I felt like I didn't pack enough clothes! The internet was as fast as home, and easy to connect to. The bed was comfortable, all of the sheets, the shower curtain, and the towels were clean and looked close to new.

The manager, Carath, was incredibly nice and had a great knowledge of the area, the events happening, and the best places to go. She is definitely an asset to that place.

There are 4 large windows with views overlooking Main St, and a fantastic view right down Main Street all the way to City Dock and the water. They have obviously infested a lot of money into this property. I had a brand new tv and Comcast digital cable with the guide. You come out the front door, walk through the alley next to the Inn and you are immediately in the middle of the action on downtown Main St.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone spending time in Annapolis. Very affordable, and worth every penny.
