“Great place to stay just a little bit away from crowds”
Reviewed 7 December 2013

Stayed 2 nights on special $129 deal including breakfast and parking. Hotel older and is scheduled to be remodeled, but very pleased, nevertheless. Clean. Excellent bar and enjoyed meeting very nice travelers from Wales. Breakfast had many choices in Restaurant downstairs so service and food were first rate. Free shuttle busses run frequently with friendly drivers, but easy walk downtown to city dock area where fun and shopping abound. Naval base secure, but open and free. Enjoyed the museum. Annapolis is a place to visit more than once, so will definitely check out this hotel again.

Room Tip: Room 512 - top floor, had great deck with view of spires in the distance. Front desk noted down the...

As a matter of fact it was our 3rd time staying here that we decided we will not stay here again. I booked here because we had stayed before and during those previous stays everything was great.

I have to say the staff is very nice and when we called to report an issue they sent someone to our room immediately to try to resolve the problem. Considering that it was Thanksgiving evening the immediate response was a pleasant surprise. Also the room and the bathroom were clean. However there were many issues.

The first time we stayed here was approximately 5 years ago. As I recall at that time this facility had only been operating as O'Callaghan's for a short period of time and everything was fine. The rooms and baths were in good repair. Based on our experience this stay it would seem that no real updates have been made since then. In addition, it appears that repairs that have been made were done by an amateur.

The issues with our room were:
* soap dish had been ripped off the wall in the bath and not replaced
* the toilet was sluggish (this is the issue they sent someone to fix Thanksgiving night)
* the caulk around the bottom of the toilet looked to have been put on by an 8 year old
* it was apparent that the bath counter started coming off the wall at some point and it has not been properly repaired....there is approximately a 3/4 inch gap between the counter and the under-mount sink
* one of the 2 light bulbs over the bath mirror was burned out
* the lighted mirror no longer lights up and in fact it’s starting to come off the wall
* there was an attempt to repair a wallpaper tear that also looks to have been done by an 8 year old
* the heat/ac unit was extremely noisy
* the refrigerator also was extremely noisy
* street noise could be heard through the bathroom vent
* our room was on West Street across the street from a salon with apartments on the second floor....the folks in one of the apartments like to play loud music and sit out on their balcony and talk very loudly until 2 am and beyond….I understand this is beyond the control of the hotel but it was just an additional annoyance
* being on the West St side of the building it would have been nice if there were sheer curtains behind the room darkening drapes...when we stayed here in the past I believe there were and I checked to see if there was a rod to hold sheers and there was but all along the front of the building the rooms have no sheer curtains….so it’s either keep the drapes closed and all the lights on or let everyone on West St look directly into your room
* the bed was hard with no featherbed or foam topper so it was rather uncomfortable
* shortly after we arrived we went to the bar myself for a soda and my husband for a beer and after he drank half of the beer her found that there was a lump of food residue on the outside of his beer glass…..we did not revisit the bar after that

I must say that the room are reasonably priced but I would prefer to pay more and stay at a place that is well maintained and comfortable. So on our next visit we'll choose Loews or Westin.

Room Tip: Based on this experience I can't even imagine where there would be a room that could be classifi...

I do apologize for the experience you had during your stay. I do remember the call on Thanksgiving evening and wish we had the opportunity to find you a room without the defects you mentioned. Thank you for bringing them to our attention.
We are planning a total refurbishment of our facility. Once we complete this project, I would request you give us another chance to serve you.

We stayed 2 nights and found the hotel to be comfortable and the staff very helpful. Although we didn't dine at the hotel, we did have a nightcap in the bar, everyone was very friendly. The lobby area was very welcoming with a fire in the fireplace and comfy seating.

A friend offered us free tickets to a concert in Annapolis for Friday, 11/8 on that day. We took them and I called the O`Callaghan and got a reservation for that night. It was five blocks from the concert venue so easily walkable. The hotel fine, as was the room. It was a little expensive, but what we did not know until we got there that it was the Naval Academy`s Homecoming Weekend so I am very lucky to have gotten a room at all. Bottom line is a nice place and a great location. I would stay again, maybe for less money.

My wife and I stayed a couple nights in Annapolis as a weekend get-away. We didn't have reservations so we stopped at the visitor's center. They told us about O'Callaghan and a special offer they had that day so we checked it out. For that area we got a good deal and our stay was very pleasant. It was within a long walk from the historic waterfront area; you can also catch the free shuttle if you wait about 15-20 minutes. We had breakfast in the dining room one morning; very good but expensive if you just want a light breakfast. You'll also pay a daily fee for parking in their garage....everywhere you go in Annapolis you'll pay to park. Overall it was a nice stay and we'd stay there again if we return to Annapolis. If you're looking for something to do in the area the Segs in the City tour on Segways was a lot of fun and very informative...the tour started just down the street from O'Callaghan. We also took a sunset cruise on the Schooner Woodwind...highly recommend that tour.

We stayed here for two nights in September. Price was great. Rooms were clean and roomy enough. Staff was helpful and friendly. No breakfast was provided but coffee was available.
O'Callaghans is up the hill from the waterfront which could be a hike. But we discovered the Circulator bus which passes right by the hotel multiple times per day and runs quite late.
We'd definitely stay here again.
