“The Best Place to Celebrate USNA CommWeek and Graduation”
Reviewed 13 July 2012

Our family rented the entire inn for 2012's Commissioning Week and Graduation for our son's graduation from the Naval Academy. If you are likewise a parent, I very highly recommend that you do the same.

Our rooms were absolutely perfect: beautiful in every way, with bathrooms that made our daughter and the girls enjoy getting ready for the many festivities of the week, and the extra living area per each room great for the added elbow room that every guest needed. Our boys enjoyed the ease with which they flowed between upstairs, the patios, the dining room...and even for a once-in-a-while sneak...at Alex or Joe's invitation...into that very special kitchen, which seemed open from dawn until the wee hours of the night.

We especially enjoyed the perfect location, right out the gate of the Academy, and a half-block from downtown's main street. It was especially welcomed for those over-booked days when a short afternoon nap was required!

The food is wonderful, the conversation always lively and the hospitality above and beyond. Alex and Joe always--ALWAYS!--exceeded expectations.

Very very highly recommended!

Every detail is attended to in this beautifully restored historical inn. As an interior designer by profession i am very particualr. I found the furnishings of quality European antiques mixed with tastfull window coverings, textiles and art to be a joy everywhere i looked. Our inn keepers were entertaining and attentive in every way and the food devine. This stop was one of the highlights of our trip!

Room Tip: There is not a bad room in the home...all are beautiful!

Returning to Annapolis for the first time since graduation, I knew where to stay for the night. The Annapolis Inn has been and always will be the best option for a beautiful, romantic, relaxing weekend in Annapolis. Alex and Joe are the consummate hosts, and every minute of our stay--from arrival to a fantastic breakfast and coffee to head out the door--was perfect.

Room Tip: I ranked swimming pool and fitness center as excellent because pretty much anyone can worm their way...

This three bedroom inn is a wonderful and historic alternative to a hotel stay. The two gentlemen proprietors, Alex and Joe, are so helpful and a wealth of information. Breakfast was wonderful and we really enjoyed the guests from the two other rooms. Midshipmen from the Naval Academy came and went throughout our weekend stay, as the inn is a little taste of home away from home for some of these young men. It was fun chatting with them and learning about life at the academy. Alex also made dinner reservations for our first night at a local italian restaurant and we had the best table in the house. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: All three rooms are lovely.

There are plenty of places to stay in Annapolis. If you want to go somewhere and be left alone by the staff in an informal setting, find a nice hotel. But if you would rather step back in time, not only in architecture or accommodations, but in the time-honored fashion of being not simply a guest at a exceptional inn, but welcomed with open arms, then the Annapolis Inn is your destination. The location is superb, as it is central to everything Historic Annapolis has to offer. The rooms (we stayed in the Rutland Suite) was tastefully decorated and the bath was truly a treat, with heated floors and towel rack to accentuate the clawfoot jetted tub and glass-enclosed shower. And the bedside fireplace truly added to the overall ambiance of the room.

But the hosts are what made the Annapolis Inn truly outstanding. Tell me the last time scones and a crystal bowl of artfully presented fresh fruit (my wife and I eat a light breakfast) for a morning meal lasted two and a half hours? Well, sitting at the table with Joe provided us with many hours of thought-provoking, stimulating and entertaining conversation, along with historical information and suggestions of places at which to dine for the evening. Sometimes you travel to be anonymous; sometimes to immerse yourself fully in the experience of travelling simply for the sake of being part of something more than what you left behind. If the second option sounds enticing to you, let Joe and Alex take you back to a time when travellers were treated better than family. You will not regret the experience. We will be back!

Room Tip: All are excellent!

We are not the couple that normally does the bNb scene, but seeing as it was a gift who can refuse. My sister is always the amazing at picking trips and great destinations and she did it again with the Annapolis Inn. Joe was very easy to deal with when making the arrangements, but I must say we loved Alex. Alex shared stories with us over breakfast and made some amazing apple pancakes, we would go again in a heartbeat. The location is excellent and the room was amazing. Ask about cleaning the chandeliers for an entertaining story. I understand now why they were the guest of honor for a dinner the night we arrived. Like I said in my title Truly Enchanting.

Room Tip: We stayed up top but detail is what they are good at so I am sure that all of them are amazing.

Alex and Joe were exceptional hosts and the location is central to everything. They are first-class people and made us feel like long lost friends from the moment we stepped into their home, and the other guests were as fabulous as our hosts. The accomodations and the food were outstanding as well but it was Alex and Joe who made our stay truly memorable. Our first weekend in Annapolis couldn't have been any better unless there was free parking right outside their door, but that just doesn't happen in Annapolis, the good news is you only have to park once when you arrive.
