We were visiting friends in Acton and they suggested going to dinner here. I ordered the Mediterranean chicken sandwich which was delivered in a reasonable time and was very tasty with pieces of eggplant. Also enjoyed a caesar salad which was a tad bland. We shared the buffalo cauliflower which was delicious. Too full for dessert but we did enjoy some wine with dinner. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived but more lively when we left.

I've eaten at the Red Raven restaurant a number of times, and have had a good meal each time. The menu trends towards simpler sandwiches and dinner plates; the "gastrobub" part of their name means you shouldn't expect elaborate dinner meals. The salmon sandwich I order was good; with plenty of French fries on the side. The chocolate cake for desert was also good.

There's a nice view of the water but we couldn't really see it from our table near the bathrooms...Sitting on the porch would be nice in warmer weather, but there is also a nice fireplace inside. The burger and fries were tasty and well cooked, but nothing special. The stuffed chicken was not very flavorful. The Kentucky bourbon barrel ale was unique and I think it was my favorite part of the experience. The space felt a little cramped. There was no drink menu, we had to steal one from another table. We had called ahead for a table while on our way (on a Saturday around 5:45pm) which was easy and the staff were friendly but all in all, I now think we might have been more comfortable at the bar.

Our reservation at 7:00 for a party of 4 got us seated right away on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very crowded, and we were told our server would tell us the child menu options as there weren't any available to hand to us. 25 minutes later, I had to go find someone to let them know that no one had come to our table. The party of 2 seated next to us, after us, had their drinks. Someone came by a few minutes later to take our order, and that included steak frites, grilled salmon, flatbread and chicken fingers. Nothing complicated or requiring a long cook time. Another party near us, had been seated after we placed our order, and already had their food by the time our food arrived, one dish at a time, between 8:20 and 8:30. The last dish to arrive was the chicken fingers for the 11 year old who had waited 1.5 hours for his food after being seated. We asked to speak to the manager, but were told 10 minutes later that she was in the kitchen cooking. Our server discounted our bill, and brought us a dessert plate as an apology. Upon first hearing that we had been neglected, they should have ensured superb service to make it up to us, not allow the situation to grow even worse. Won't ever be going back.

Saturday lunch with my besties. First impressions - cavernous, dark and cold space. Decor is goth meets Victorian. Wear your coat when you go to the bathroom.
Service - Becky was very attentive, but not overly. Food was delivered timely and hot.
Food - Brussel sprouts and Buffalo cauliflower were great apps. Had the fish and chips - lightly battered and fresh. The burger looked delish. Opted out of dessert, but the Irish coffee was a decent substitute.
Overall - a nice place for lunch. Next time I’d ask for a fireside table.
