The total renovation at the Lord Jeffery Inn has made this property the star of the Pioneer Valley. It is tucked away in tiny Amherst, MA amid college campuses and sprawling farms. Everything about our stay from the moment we checked in to check out was top notch. Service was attentive, rooms were spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. We were especially impressed with the environmentally controlled rooms activated by your room key. The public area is open , airy and inviting. The bar/restaurant is tastefully decorated and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed dining outside on the patio accented by sofas and fireplaces. This was a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

What an elegant inn! The bed was like a piece of heaven, soft and comfortable but firm and supportive. I went to an event there and they did a flawless job of pulling it off. The food was great and the drinks were perfect. I know the inn had dozens of guests but I never heard a sound of anyone else near my room or in the hallway. There was plenty of parking, too.

They just finished a renovation. It looks like a classic building but everything is clean, comfortable and up-to-date. There's free wi-fi but I only used it for my iPhone. It seemed fast enough.

One of the little touches I liked is that they have Amherst magazine in the room. It was very interesting. Without it, I wouldn't have known that the college owns the Inn, although it's run by a professional hotel group.

The staff members were great and very helpful, whether it was in giving me directions or having me use a parking pass.

Room Tip: If you pick a room with windows facing east, be sure to pull the shades before you go to bed, or the...

We stayed for just one night but were very pleased with our charming and spotlessly clean room, comfortable bed, and sharp-looking bath. We arrived on a chilly evening and made use the the charming gas fireplace as well. This is a a large inn with an elevator and the capacity to host events--one was in progress when we arrived. The Boltwood Restaurant--we went there for lunch--is very good, with pleasant service and delicious food. The location is convenient n central. The disadvantage is cost. It seems rather expensive for the area. But we enjoyed our splurge.

Colonial ambiance with modern amenities, very comfortable.

Room Tip: Some fireplaces in rooms are functional, others decorative.

Do NOT look at real old reviews and pictures of this place:
It has been gutted and completely renovated!!
It's within walking distance to all UMASS has to offer
It has two separate outdoor fire pits and outdoor seating areas
Staff are all friendly and very helpful
Each room is decorated very New-Englandy, very beautiful!
Fire places in rooms, they kept the colonial feel
Would go there again in an instant!

Room Tip: some rooms are smaller than others, ask and ask again when calling to reserve for a larger room.

Thoroughly enjoyed several days here while working on a project. The front desk staff is exceptional, especially Steven(?). The living room is comfortable and cozy, yet perfect for several groups. And my bedroom was very comfortable and quiet, even though it was at the front of the building. I would come back here in a heartbeat next time I'm in town. And it's close to shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: I'm not aware of a bad room, but I'd choose one in the front of the building.
