I have been staying there last year for a training. the hotel is not too far from the town center, it has a nice location. the hotel's restaurant has a terrace outside also, the food was good and plenty, I was afraid not to gain weight :) the rooms are big and comfy, i remember my room had a big bed , a tv and a nice bathroom. The staff was nice .

Stayed here on a lay over for an early flight the next morning. The hotel is a little difficult to find being set back from the main road but once there its quiet, very close to the river and I found all the staff there hospitable, helpful and very friendly. There's a nice atmosphere here, something which is lacking in a lot of hotels.

Rooms are clean, functional, have a fridge, air-con and television. Shower room is a little small but served its purpose for me. Wi-Fi connection is good throughout.

The hotel has a restaurant, the food is fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced! If I am in the area again I would definitely stay there again. Thank you everyone at Hotel Porta!!

Me and my wife organized our wedding in a restaurant not far away from this hotel and chose hotel Portal as accommodation for all of our international guests. Most of the guests stayed there three nights, and we stayed in the hotel one night.

Location of the hotel is OK, it's in a quiet part of town not far from the town centre (a good mile away, an easy walk along the Vardar river), the main bus & railway stations are also nearby (10 minute walk). In Skopje, a good restaurant, bar, bakery or market are never more than 5 minutes away, so all the basic infrastructure is there. Taxi's are dirty cheap anyway, less than 2 EUR for a ride to the centre.

Price of the hotel is very decent, especially as the rooms are impeccably clean, although I do agree that the walls could be a bit thicker. Still, there is an air condition in every room (an absolute must for Skopje's never-ending summer), and the facilities in the room and furniture are more than very good. Rooms are of decent size.

Now, the very best thing - the service. We've travelled a lot, but this was like staying home with your family. The receptionists were only too kind, helping us with every little detail and always doing it with a big, big smile on their faces. The hotel manager was superbly flexible and managed to sort out every little request we or our guests had, going out of her way to make our stay more enjoyable. And finally, the barman was top notch, simply the best! It showed he really connected with the guests and there were nothing but words of praise from all of our guests about the service and the whole staff.

In summary, this is a very clean, cosy hotel, with all the basic facilities and their own restaurant (extremely solid, the veal stew and the barbecue especially recommended), located a bit out of town with great price to value ratio. What stands out is the beyond friendly service and general helpfulness of the whole staff. Definitely recommended and I can see us coming back there more than once!

Room Tip: All the rooms are on the same floor (first), but I guess the best ones are the ones on the end of th...

I was there at business conference from 01.-05.04. and i had great time. The service was fantastic, all people we so nice and kind, and help me with every detail. The food was excellent and service too, especially our waiter! Clean rooms, daily cleaned. Location is very good too, 15min. far from bus and train station, by walk. All praising for Anna Maria, from the reception, and our waiter Alexander.

Room Tip: Great service

Located to the south of the central bus & train stations, about a 10 minute walk. 20 minute walk to the city centre. Clean but basic facilities. Friendly & helpful staff. Could hear guests next door as well as loud music from downstairs restaurant/ function room. Overall, cheap, clean. Ok for overnight stay.

It is not in a great location surrounded by poor housing and an auto repair shop. It is also a little too far from the centre. The hotel is modern, as are the rooms. The bathroom needed up grading and the shower unit replacing (plenty of black mould). Breakfast was below average with a very poor buffet selection. I would not choose to stay there again.

I stayed here with my son for 2 weeks and although the hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was lacking in some basic areas. The rooms were generally good and spacious with good bathroom, however tea and coffee would be a good, BASIC, addition, and the WIFI was very poor.
We stayed on a HB basis and was very disappointed with the standard of the restaurant. The breakfast was very limited and boring. Decent bread would have made things much better, we just got little sweet rolls EVERY day which some days were stale...... The food was exposed to flies, (and there was lots of them) and the staff were indifferent..... You had the feeling that they were doing you a favor by letting you eat there, rather than treating you as a valued customer.
It was 43 euro pp per night for HB. This is not a bad a price, but all it was worth. The hotel could be vastly improved with small, easy to implement, improvements in service, food, and attitude. During dinner you would sometimes get the main course at the same time as the starter, or at the same time as the sweet......
Skopje if a good place to visit and the hotel needs to wake up to hosing international travelers!!
