“Best hostel I've ever been”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

I'm serious. This is the best hostel I've ever been!
It's kind of perfect actually: you feel at home, very cosy, very familiar and you really feel a good vibe. They think about the minimum detail, the kind of detail that you usually don't notice at first but then you realize that they really know people and people's needs. Unity Hostel really knows how to take care of guests.

More details to sustain my opinion: beds are big, clean and comfortable; rooms have a really good space; there's plenty of space to put your stuff; kitchen is really sweet and they really have everything (lot of tea, coffee, bread...); host are super nice.

Thanks and keep up the good work :)

We stayed at the hostel for two nights, and our experience was excellent.
The place is ideal for backpackers as it is in walking distance to the bus station (about 15 minutes) and is located in the city centre. It is two minutes from both the main square and the old bazaar.
The service was great, with kind and informative staff and we got our room at 12, even though check in wasn't before 2 p.m. At any time we could ask for advice about the city and the atmosphere was helpful and relaxed.
The lounge area is lovely with quiet music, sofas and backpackers just hanging around all the time. The bathrooms are large and very clean, the best we have experienced yet. Showers warm, beds comfortable and with nightlight and curtains in the dorm.
Only thing is that breakfast mainly was just cornflakes with milk and white bread with butter, jam or spices. It was okay, but nothing much. There are free tea and coffee all day, though.

The hostel is in a great location, is clean, and is cheap. We had more issues with the staff. I just got the impression that we were more of a bother and that answers were not clear. We asked about the morning bus schedule to go to the lake, even said we were catching the 0830 bus. The workers sleep on the couch in the reception area. We are having the kids be quiet not to wake him up too early, but it got to be 0810 and he still had not gotten up to show us where breakfast was, which food was for public vs private, etc. So we left and went to a market. One of the kids forgot something and went back. Apparently he decided to wake up when the hostel was empty. We are a party of 8. He then precedes to give the child a message that the bus will be coming later.

When traveling with kids, it is better that they sleep in. His information was inaccurate and bus schedules are posted.

The next morning we got up and got our own breakfast, washed the dishes, and did not disturb the worker.

The hostel is not always manned. The night time worker left sometime after 2200. The new worker was coming back from what looked like parting at 0115. I only know this because that is when I used the bathroom and talked with the worker.

When arriving at 1600 our bed for a room of 8 were not made. The worker asked us to look around the city and it would be ready in an hour. The room was ready when we returned after diner. The first night we only had sheets. When we came back on the second day a blanket had been added.

There is laundry for 3 euro according to the sign. So I paid a worker 3 euro. Then I was told we can not pay anything in euro only in diners. So I asked what I had to pay in diners and why does the sign say euro. This was followed by a long explanation.

The positives: There is parking close by and you can park on the curb. The location is excellent, right in the middle of the square. The price is very good. The room was clean. Only 16 people max so it is small to get to know other visitors. It seems like it would be fun for singles that like to go out at night.

I stayed in the six bed dorm at Unity Hostel in May. The room was very clean, comfortable beds with curtains, sockets close to all beds, reading lights and a small shelf for every bed. The staff were very very friendly and easy to talk/hang out with. I was a bit sick during my stay and the guys were really nice and caring!! I had a lot of nice chats with specially Oliver, but also the other guys! I felt really welcome and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. So no problem to go to this place alone, you will not feel lonely, it's always someone there! Small, nice kitchen to cook in. It was a great location, walking distance to the main sites. Easy to find, we just told the bus driver from the airport to drop us off right outside the hostel. If I go back to Skopje, I will definetly stay here again! (One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at!) So don't hesitate, you will be super happy with this place! Nothing negative, only positive!!!

Room Tip: It was quite warm when I stayed here, so during the night we kept the window open. If you're sen...

This is a cheap, clean hostel located steps away from all the main sights in Skopje. The outside of the building is a bit shabby but don't let it put you off; the inside is well kept and comfortable. The private deluxe double is of an excellent size with sheets, blankets and towels provided. There is no air conditioning but there is a fan - we found it a little noisy to sleep with the window open. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable. We were only in the hostel for a matter of hours (having to leave at 0300 to catch a flights) but it provided a cheap, comfortable stay in a good location, even for a couple just on a 2 week break rather than a gap-year student traveler.

If you are looking for a clean, safe and reasonable hostel in Skopje, Unity is the perfect choice. Only steps away from the main square, Stone Bridge and the castle are only 5-10-15 minutes on foot, depending on your speed. The beds are comfortable with curtains and reading lights. Two towels, bedsheets and blankets are provided. The lockers are quite spacious. The kitchen is fully equipped and there are two clean bathrooms for the guests.

Special thanks to Oli for his extraordinary hospitality.

Me and my friends went to Skopje for a student conference and just needed the cheapest accommodation with a central location.
What we got for the price was much more than that. From the looks of the hostel, which is a beautiful mixture of Oriental and Macedonian details to the service(very clean, well equipped kitchen, always hot water in the showers, warm central heating during winter time and I saw a AC for the warm summers, you get a lavish breakfast, free towels, lockers, tips around the city etc.) to friendship.
Boki, Oli and Tamara definitely made our stay in the city much better just by being there. Hope to see you again guys, next time in Skopje, we are definitely coming back to UNITY <3
