TCC Plaza Hotel
Ranked #48 of 71 Hotels in Skopje

The TCC Plaza is far from being a glamorous hotel, and don't expect 4 or 5 star service, but it is clean, comfortable, and relatively peaceful. The entrance is a little odd, as you need to walk through a small shopping plaza and go up to the second floor to reach the lobby, but this is a minor detail. The main point is that it offers good value for money when compared to many of the others hotels in the centre of Skopje. It is an easy walk from the hotel to the main sights of the city and to a good selection of restaurants and cafes. The bazaar is also a relatively comfortable walk away. Not a bad choice, but perhaps not the best in town. It depends what you are looking for and we were looking for somewhere on a reasonable budget and fairly central. For a very central location, some travellers may prefer the Stone Bridge Hotel, but it is considerably more expensive.

The TCC Plaza Hotel is located centrally in downtown Skopje, very close to the main walking street. The rooms are used but nice and spacious. The reception service was really friendly and service minded - and they speak perfect English. The hotel reception is not the easiest to spot because you have to take the elevator. The breakfast is served in the restaurant on the ground floor. The hotel has parking in front of the hotel.

It was a bit confusing arriving at the hotel in our rental car at night but there was a night security guard who helped us park and directed us to the lobby, which is actually located on the 2nd floor. The staff was always friendly and somewhat ready to help. (Limited though, for example they did not have any city maps, which would be expected at better hotels in any city.) Rooms were spacious yet sparcely decorated with furniture from the seventies. My guess is they haven't been renovated since before Yugoslavia disintegrated but at least they weren't in bad condition, making for a retro-nostalgia look which we quite appreciated. (The hotel exterior was also very nostalgic!) The room was cold though, so we did end up using the electric heater they provided. The bathroom was huge as well, just a shower but this did look like it was renovated more recently.
Breakfast on the ground floor was fine - some delicious local options as well as the usual international fare. WiFi worked well and was complimentary, as was breakfast and parking.
The hotel is located right around the block from the main pedestrian area, so it was pleasantly quiet yet close to everything. The rate was not high, though relatively speaking it was not cheap for Skopje so I would have expected somethinga bit more updated.

Clean tidy and fairly priced. Good location in the centre of town so perfect for the shops and cafés etc. breakfast was ok nothing special. Rooms good size with comfy bed but a little old. Internet ok and tv is local no tea and coffee but free water for 2 people. 3 star but this is Macedonia and they are 20 years behind the rest of the world!

Room Tip: Not next to the building site

I spent two nights here with a couple of friends during our visit to Skopje in September 2013. The hotel was really good with its central location and modern big rooms. Nice buffet breakfast as well and free access to wellness (spa and pool) was great. Staff were great and helpful. And we used parking in front of the hotel for free. Definitely recommended.

No bath, no kettle or tea making facilities, one bottle of drinking water on arrival and then nothing, no room service, TV with really poor reception, a mini bar that consists of 4 softdrink cans. And it smells of moth balls. I'd be hard pressed to stay here again.

First impression is that it's a bit 'Yugoslav' and bonkers, seems to be in a commercial building and you have to go up 2 stories to get to reception. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is large and has been upgraded (a while ago) from the Commie era. The breakfast room is on the ground floor, buffet system and you can really 'pig out' we had no need for lunch after gorging ourselves. Let's face it, it's not 5 star but neither is the price, very reasonable especially compared to the Best Western nearby.

Unless you demand the very, very best. I would heartily recommend this hotel and save yourself a few quid into the bargain.
