“Wonderful stay!”
Reviewed 23 June 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stayed the night at The Maguire House on our way to NH from NYC to pick up our new puppy. Our night there was everything we had hoped for. The house is beautiful. The rooms are very nice, the beds super comfortable and the bathroom nice and clean (we had our own bathroom). The property is gorgeous, with views of the lake and sitting areas to relax outside. We didn't want to leave! Terry, the owner, was sweet as could be and made the most delicious cookies, scones and
eggs! She even offered to make us a restaurant reservation for dinner. Just a very nice stay all around. We hope to go back one day!

First bed and breakfast experience set the bar very, very high! Terry and her family (including her awesome Golden Retriever Abby) were so friendly, down to earth, and went out of their way to make sure everything was great. The views were amazing from the backyard (even saw a baby deer). The Adirondack chairs and hammock were a great touch and we could have spent days sitting admiring the views. Charming bed / bath connected in the Wisteria Room where we stayed. You get the same view from the back deck as you do from that bedroom so it was an awesome wake up. Snacks and refreshments galore. The breakfast was awesome (fresh fruit, great coffee, unbelievable banana bread, and breakfast burritos (special of the day). We hiked Mt. Monadnock (closeby) during the day and what a relaxing way to cap the day. Tucked into a town many have not likely heard of (Ashburnham), it's close to Wachusett Mountain and Monadnock for good hiking. Worth the trip, wish we could have stayed more nights, and can't wait to get here again and spread the word until then!

Room Tip: We stayed in Wisteria, with great view to wake up to and bathroom connected. Worth the few extra dol...

It is hard to imagine a B&B more perfect in every way. We had the perfect weather as well which added to the sense of complete bliss we felt while in residence here. Every detail was anticipated and addressed in an understated and pleasing way. Comfort and style graced by an amazing view of a fresh water reservoir and surrounding green hills from the front of the house and formal gardens with elegant fountain bubbling all the while. There were plenty of snacks, drinks, and every amenity you might want. Breakfast was delicious, served with plenty of friendly advice about local sights and events. Staying at this wonderful place was the highlight of our time in the area!

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice, you might enjoy "A room with a view" overlooking the formal garden...

from the moment we walked in it felt like we were being spoiled in a warm embrace! Terry is a truly great perfectionist at the craft of spoiling her guests! She has a great fun personality, is so knowledgeable at providing any area information needed, a wonderful cook, and magnificent at making you feel like you are in a five star resort yet in a beautiful home!!!!! Yet she would have our room cleaned and changed over for the day with a swift sneeky quietness, that if the turned down bedding or fresh towels were not there you would have suddenly thought you imaginied it! I really believe she is part ninja!
From the mouth watering home made breakfasts that fill you up till well past lunch time or the chocolate chip cookies and stocked refreshment fridge at night to the soft cuddly bedding and comfy lounge rooms, it was grand!
The views from our room were amazing and gorgeous! The lake and surrounding wildlife made us feel like we were in Eden! The landscaping was immaculate and so splendid!
It was a true honor to be able to have our small wedding ceremony on the steps near the fountain on a great sunny day with the birds chirping and the such a grand backdrop of nature.
I will never be able to express just how great our time was.
Terry and Paul made us really feel like we were part of thier family! We will never forget our week at The Maguire House!

Room Tip: the wisteria room has the best views and an ensuite bathroom!

I have to start by saying that I will almost surely stay here again just for one of Terry's maple glazed breakfast scones! (Seriously....the best scones I've ever had in my life). We found this beautiful BnB while looking for housing near Wachusett mountain since we were volunteering for the Special Olympics all weekend. All the hotels nearby were booked, but what a blessing is disguise! The Maguire house is tucked away on a very quiet street, and is a beautiful home full of Irish charm. The hostess, Terry, is such a sweet and energetic woman who seemed to constantly wear a smile. We had great conversation, and she was both extremely helpful and not intrusive what so ever. We stayed in the Wisteria room which has a private bathroom and amazing views of the back yard. Everything was immaculately clean, and perhaps most important the bed was a cloud - so comfortable and great for knocking out after all day on Skis. Waking up was terrific - the views to the back yard need to be seen to get the full idea, very majestic sunrise between two mountain tops in the distance - and breakfast is awesome and gets you ready for the day. CHECK IT OUT!

Room Tip: Only stayed in the Wisteria - but it has private bathroom, and top center view of the back yard land...

What a pleasant surprise to find the Bed and Breakfast I booked online to be even more charming than the photos!. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. The views are absolutely spectacular!. I will definitely want to return in the spring/summer to see the lake and gardens shed of the snow cover, although I may return for one more ski trip prior to that. Can simply not say enough about how wonderful our stay was, and I have been to many BnBs over the years - this one is truly a treat!

Room Tip: We were in the Rose Room - loved it!
