We decided to try Lucia's as it was centrally located for a group of us. There is street parking. The hostess greeted us with a smile, and although some of group was running late, we were still seated. Our server was wonderful, the right amount of attention to make the evening memorable. The appetizer (calamari fritti) and drinks were delicious. The past is made on site and is hand cut. Our meals were amazing. We will definitely be back to try more dishes and will have to make sure we don't fill up on apps and salad so we can try a dessert.

Our dinner at this lovely restaurant was superb, service above average, and romantic!! We frequent Lucia's and never eat out on New Year's Eve because the food and service are never up to par. Well Lucia's proved that statement wrong, the food was in fact better then usual as the specials were amazing! Even though the restaurant was packed, service was spot on. We were seated by Brian the manager, (he always remembers our names), our server was right there ready for drink orders and warm bread and oil/spice. In spite of the large crowd we never felt rushed to give up our table or hurry through dinner. They had a wedding booked in their function room and it did not impact food or service. I like my beef cooked VERY RARE and it is always prepared perfectly, kudos to the chef!! Desserts and after dinner drinks were so yummy. As for the review complaining about the Xmas lights, I love them. They make the space warm and cozy, you don't feel like you are in downtown Ayer on a busy street.Thank You Lucia's for the continued superb food and service, we will be back this week, and book us for next New Years Eve!

Staying in the area for work and needed a place to eat. Asked at the desk where, of course they recommended the in hotel restaurant (bleh) or a place very close by. Of course, I checked reviews first. I'm so glad I did. Nearby restaurant has had a lot of very negative reviews recently. Lucia's was only a 5 minute drive and the menu looked good. Reviews were good so I figured it was worth a try.

Wow. A little slice of the North End in the middle of nowhere. Ok Ayer isn't the middle of nowhere but you can see it from there. (badump)

Things started off well as I was eating early and got a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and seated immediately. My server came to the table with in a minute or two to ask me if I had been there before and to show me the wine list.

Decor was overall nice but as in way too many places do, they had stupid Christmas tree lights (icicles no less) in the window to provide "ambience" and the first chair I sat in was a little wobbly (they quickly replaced it and apologized). Sorry the lights are a pet peeve of mine as they detract from what otherwise would have been a very nice ambience.

For appetizer I started with the "Date e Pancetta" which is figs stuffed with goat cheese wrapped in baked pancetta. OMG. Absolutely fantastic mix of sweet and savory. I loved them but they might be a bit sweet for some as an appetizer.

For dinner I had the Vitello “Lucia” which is small pieces of veal stuffed with mozzerlla figs and pesto. This is served with starch and fresh vegetables. I selected the risotto. Very minor complaint is the pesto was very fresh and a tiny bit too gritty. Every now and then I would get a bite that was just shy of a nice pine nut crunch that you sometimes get in fresh pesto but not quite completely ground. Another minor complaint was that the risotto while well cooked was slightly lacking in flavor. However, these were very minor complaints and did not detract from an overall excellent entree.

Foolishly (for my waist line) I listened to the dessert choices. They had fresh zabaglione. I absolutely love zabaglione but it is so hard to find someone that makes it well. They not only made it well it was one of the best I have ever had. It had a fantastic consistency and excellent flavor. It had fresh strawberries, bananas and blue berries mixed in that provided an excellent "pop" of fresh flavor.

Overall this rates up there with the best Italian restaurants I've eaten at anywhere.
