We visit Nantucket two or three times each year (past 13 years), but this was our first stay at Union Street Inn after reading about it in the Island’s “Best of” magazine. We found the service was welcoming and pleasant making us feel at home immediately. The general atmosphere is casual and relaxed, yet the décor is sophisticated with the right mix of antiques and contemporary. Our room was oversized (considered a suite) with a small seating area at the entry and a mini bar. There were plenty of areas for storing clothing, and small tables (surfaces) which allowed you to unpack easily. The Frette bed linens were luxurious. The closet was small for two people, however, as was the bathroom. That being said, it was a real treat to enjoy beautiful fixtures and a strong water flow in the shower which is not typical of B&B’s or Inns that we have visited. The location is in town around the corner from main street – a convenient short walk from the high-speed ferry dock.
The breakfast was made to order daily with selections such as Mediterranean omelet, blueberry pancakes, fresh fruit, bagels w/ salmon, as well as choices of yogurt and granola. They also provided major newspapers daily (Globe, NY Times).
We have stayed at numerous other locations (hotel and B&B), and we have friends that rent homes near town. However, the Union Street Inn offers the comfort of home with service of a fine hotel. We’ve already made our reservation to return in May of 2012!!

Room Tip: Check the room floor plans on their website.

A friend and I stayed at the Union Street Inn for 4 nights in May, 2011 and we will definitely return. Our room was beautiful as was the entire Inn and surrounding property. A highlight was having breakfast, which was incredible itself, outside on the patio under the trees. Ken, Carrie and Ryan all were so helpful and knowledgeable anytime we had a question about restaurants, which ones they liked best, or finding special spots around Nantucket. The Inn is only a short walk from Main St. and it was so easy to go shopping and return. Renting a car helped for exploring the Island but not needed to go to many of the restaurants. We had a great time.

Room Tip: Check their website for location of the rooms.

This is a very beautiful Inn in gorgeous Nantucket Island. Beautiful room # 9, a small suite actually. Delicious home cooked breakfast, fabulous bed, quiet and peaceful. Would have appreciated a later time for breakfast, maybe until 11 am so as to be able to sleep late.

We have been staying at the Union Street Inn for 7 years now. As repeat visitors, we have always been pleased by the personal nature of staying at the Inn and the high quality service provided by staff. The staff go out of their way to be helpful, whether it’s suggesting dining options and making reservations on our behalf, or recommending a route for touring the island by car on a rainy day.

The Inn itself is charming, clean and well cared for. The doors and floor boards might be a little squeaky, but that only adds to the charm of staying a historic Inn. Breakfast is always a highlight of the day, with a hot breakfast being served in the common area where we can talk with other guests about our stay and plans for the day. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else on the island. I look forward to many more visits.

This is the best B&B/Inn on the Island, in our opinion. Luxurious rooms, gourmet breakfasts! Great alternative to the White Elephant or Wauwinet and the in town location is unbeatable. Everything here is top notch; luxurious linens, beautifully decorated rooms, and gourmet breakfasts. We stayed in room 9, which is our favorite.

My husband and I spent two days at the Union Street Inn in mid-May. This was our fifth visit and everything was as perfect as on our previous stays. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast choices are delicious and plentiful, and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We truly enjoyed this mini-vacation and look forward to many return trips to the Union Street Inn and Nantucket in the future.
