Seven Sea Street Inn

It was our second wonderful stay at the Seven Sea Street Inn. Matt and the rest of the staff were very friendly and often lent us their “local” expertise with recommendations for dinner and activities. The inn itself is in an ideal location…close to the docks, the center of town, and everything you need is in walking distance. The cozy charm of the inn really makes you feel like you are on “Nantucket time.” We also enjoyed the breathtaking view of the sunrise from the widow’s peak, and the delicious homemade breakfast treats. There is no other place in Nantucket we would like to stay other then the Seven Sea Street Inn and look forward to our next stay.

Seven Sea Street Inn is ideally located on a quiet lane, a 5-minute walk to the Whaling Museum, Steamship terminal, wonderful restaurants and center of town. Matt, the helpful, knowledgeable and personable innkeeper/owner, made arrangements for an interesting and informative island tour, and offered suggestions for places to eat and for day-rental of a car to tour the island on our own. Our room was small but well-furnished and decorated and very comfortable; a small library or parlor on each floor of the inn offered the early-riser a comfy spot to read and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while the late sleeper enjoyed a quiet rest. Breakfasts were varied and generous and the delicious fresh berry compote every morning was truly a treat. The family-style breakfast table allowed a chance to meet and share experiences with other guests, with Matt nearby to answer questions, offer suggestions and keep coffee cups full. A great early fall get-away.

We have stayed in countless b&bs over 30+ years and this is one of the best. First is the staff, headed by Matt. Seven Sea has a friendlier feel than many b&bs and the staff honestly makes you feel you are visiting friends who want to help you enjoy your holiday with advice about an area they know well. Next is the house itself. We had a good sized room with a king bed, small but nice bathroom with sink outside the bathroom (convenient),rocking chair and desk. There is a lovely lounge on the second floor (not sure but may be one on floor three also) and the house has beautiful natural wide plank floors and ceilings. The "continental" breakfast is fabulous and IMO only lack of eggs and meat make it not a full breakfast. I like this better. There is wonderful homemade granola, fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, bananas with cream, juice and different breakfast breads or cereal e.g. Steel cut baked porridge, blueberry muffins, pain au chocolat, banana bread. All in all, this is a marvelous place to stay and the prices are great, especially when compared with other b.&bs in the area with similar prices and much less to offer.

I found Seven Sea Street on Trip Advisor and have not been disappointed. The room was comfortable and cleaned daily. The towels are full and fluffy. The breakfasts have been filling, varied, and delicious. Matt (the owner), Claudia (his assistant), and Judith (Claudia's aasistant on her days off) were friendly and created a home-like atmosphere. They made great suggestions for itineraries or restaurants, based on our questions. We would highly recommend staying at Seven Sea Street B n B.

Have stayed at the Seven Sea Street Inn for many years ... it is comfortable and clean, has friendly and helpful staff, offers a good breakfast and afternoon cookies, and has a quiet location just steps from town ... we look forward to returning every year - yes, it feels like "home"!

We stayed at the Seven Sea Street Inn from Sept. 9 through 14, 2012 and found it to be very relaxing, extremely friendly, warm and very clean. We loved the Inn and would definitely reserve it again if we returned to Nantucket. The breakfasts were very good and the guests we spoke to were friendly, fun and very interesting to talking to. There's "Nothing Like Nantucket" especially in the late summer/early fall, and we truly enjoyed every minute of it. We hope to return again in the near future. Thank you to Matt and his staff; we found you all to be extremely gracious and very helpful. Bernadette and Richard, Rochester, N.Y.

If the very word "Nantucket" exhilarates you, with images of salty fresh air; friendly, energetic year-rounders; and myriad attractions, then you'll want to stay at Seven Sea Street Inn during your stay on that magic isle. You'll have spotlessly clean, uncluttered accommodations and a delicious breakfast to power your daytime activities. While you enjoy the excellent granola, yogurt, fresh fruit and baker Claudia's marvelous creations, Matt, the builder, owner, and proprietor will share his in-depth knowledge of island lore -- and up-to-the minute weather predictions-- with you and the other interesting guests who have chosen Seven Sea Street. Returning from a swim, bike ride, etc. you can always find a beverage and snack in the homey kitchen/reception area that make Matt's inn distinctive. If you're lucky, you'll have a chance to chat with Judith, who assists with hosting duties. In the evening, you're only steps away from excellent restaurants, theater and other attractions. Seven Sea Street is perfect for the vacationer looking for an authentic Nantucket experience.
