We chose Carlisle based on positive trip advisor reviews and lower daily room charges compared to most other places we considered.
The prior reviews proved quite on the point and we readily agree that the owner Heather was most gracious and helpful during our recent 2 night stay. Our 3rd floor king room was tasteful and comfortable with very large bathroom. Bkfst was quite tasty with daily fresh baked offerings and wonderful fruits in addition to toasts, coffee/tea etc. The side yard repose area was comfortably lovely and frequented by many of the guests and proprietor for quiet conversation. Heather was seemingly always readily available and helpful in providing advice for and assisting with making dinner/tour reservations.

My husband and I just spent the weekend here, and we loved this adorable B&B! It was originally an old whaling captain's house, and the current owner Heather is a descendent of the original owners. Heather was SO unbelievably friendly and helpful- offering up great restaurant and sight-seeing advice, along with fresh-baked banana, zucchini, and pumpkin breads each day.

The inn is very clean, and has all of the original details (old paintings of the whaling captains, little wooden doors to the rooms, 4 poster beds, etc) which give it a wonderful quaintness. Breakfast is available each morning on the sunny porch, and there is a beautiful garden out back which is great for relaxing with a cup of coffee or glass of wine in the afternoon. The location is very convenient as well- situated on a quiet street, walk to the right and you are downtown within less than 5 minutes. Walk left and you are on your way to Jetties Beach (about 15 min walk).

On our last day, check-out was at 11a and we had a 6p ferry... Heather was really helpful and let us keep our bags at the inn and even offered up beach towels we could that use so ours wouldn't get messy before having to throw them back in our bags. We had full use of the Inn and Garden all day until our ferry that evening. I would absolutely stay here again next time I am on Nantucket!

Stayed here the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. A lot of places were still closed, but what we saw was great. The inn is quite charming, very clean, and extremely friendly and helpful. Heather even gave us a bottle of wine to help celebrate our anniversary since we were heading to a BYO restaurant and all the stores were closed since it was a Sunday night after 6. It turned out that the restaurant was closed, too! Saved the wine for the next day and enjoyed it immensely. The inn was a short walk from the ferry and we didn't need a car all weekend. Lots of places to enjoy within walking distance. If we go back to Nantucket we'd definitely stay here again.

I reserved the Carlisle House Inn for my mother and aunt during our weekend stay in Nantucket (Madaket Suite). It's a beautiful inn that's impeccably clean and comfortable. The innkeeper was so warm and welcoming. Both my mother and aunt were beyond happy with their stay. The room they stayed had a little sitting room off to the side with a television, which meant one could take a nap while the other sat reading or watching TV. A great choice!

The Carlisle House is a very comfortable, clean and convenient place to stay when you are in Nantucket. Our favorite room is the Tom Nevers on the third floor - and don't forget to try one of Heather's (innkeeper) scones at breakfast!

Room Tip: I like top floors so that no one is above me and down the hall so people don't walk by the room...

Great choice of accommodations. Our visit was in the off season and we enjoyed the whole long weekend. We stayed in the third floor Tuckernuck Room--about the inn's cheapest room. The room was sunny, comfortable and clean with a sweet beachy decor. Plenty of towels and blankets. The room was small--but not too small--with a perk of a private bath that was roomy large (7'x10'). As other reviewers have mentioned, the complimentary breakfast was excellent. The inn is a 5-10 minute walk to shops and restaurants, the ferry, and the Brant Point beach and lighthouse. Walking to other beaches and just around the island was convenient and fun. If you have bicycles, bring them! The Inn has an outdoor bike rack for convenience. Heather, the innkeeper/owner is knowledgeable about her town and quite friendly to talk with.
