The Carlisle House is conveniently located close to town, in a nice quiet location just a few minutes walk from everything. We stayed in a room on the second floor that turned out to be fairly small and cramped - and while we normally might not have minded so much, the weather was not great during our stay and the room was not at all conducive to relaxing in. There is a parlor area downstairs but it is not air conditioned and it was much too hot and humid to hang out there. Aside from this, the one truly unredeemable aspect of the place was the bed - not sure if it was a cheap mattress or just old, but it was so uncomfortable I could hardly sleep and my back was killing me afterward. Overall the Carlisle is an ok place to bunk for the night if you're looking for nothing more than a bed to sleep in (albeit a very uncomfortable one). But in retrospect we would opt to pay more and stay in a roomier and more comfortable B&B or hotel, with more amenities.
