This is our third stay at the Martin House Inn. We like it because it is within walking distance to town, and yet it is away from the hub and noise of the town itself. This is an old historic house which has much ambiance and character. All the rooms are uniquely appointed; each has its own personality and style. The rooms on the first and second floor are spacious with private bath; the rooms on the third level are a little smaller with shared bath. Our room had a comfy queen sized canopy bed, a loveseat, a couple of straight back chairs, and a highboy dresser. The closet is stocked with two soft terrycloth robes which we wore downstairs late at night to catch the news on the small flat screen TV in the livingroom. During the day there is always nice classical guitar music coming from the sound system which you can enjoy while having breakfast of cereal, yogurt, mixed fresh fruit, scones, muffins, coffee cake (all home made; yum), juice and coffee or tea. We enjoyed coming home to wine and cheese in the late afernoon on Friday and fresh baked cookies on Saturday. We enjoyed cocktail hour up on the widow's walk, where you can view the boats going in and out of the harbor and take in beautiful views of Nantucket. A very special place which we always try to return to year after year.
