While called the quiet season, nantucket in February is calm and relaxing. We stayed at the Sherburne Inn and found it warm and welcoming. Our innkeeper Susan was very gracious and answered any questions we had about the island and what to see. The room was bright and cozy. We were a short walk away from the beach, the wharf and the center of town.

My husband and I visited Nantucket this Christmas and had a marvelous visit. We happened to meet the Sherburne proprietors and thus were able to see the beautiful inn, which is closed in the off-season, and hear tales of its past and present. It is very nicely situated in town. Wonderful people, romantic historic inn. We will be back in summer!

Thank you for your kind words. We are very much enjoying our turn at the helm of running the Sherburne Inn, and will be starting our 7th season in April, 2014. Looking forward to seeing you when you return to the Island for a visit. Our best wishes for a very joyous New Year.

We came here eight years ago and loved it. When we came back, we found it was under new management, but we still loved it. Eight years ago we had the biggest room in the inn (No. 8). This time we had the smallest (No. 7). We were more cramped, but, hey, we don't need a lot of space, and it was nice to save some money. The proprietor, Susan, was very pleasant and accommodating. For instance, one evening we came home from a restaurant with leftover beef, and Susan let us keep it in a refrigerator until we headed for the ferry to go home. The basket of Continental breakfast (cereal, yogurt, fruit, orange juice, coffee, pastry) was a good way to start the day, especially after a gargantuan artery-clogging dinner at a restaurant the night before (which is where the leftover beef came from). By the way, the inn is just a few minutes' walk from most of the best restaurants in town. Too bad somebody can't flatten out all those damned brick sidewalks and cobblestone streets. That much quaintness can send you tumbling in the dark.

Room Tip: Room 8 has a nice little lanai.

My wife and I just returned from a 3-day Labor Day weekend in Nantucket and we loved staying at this Inn. It's in a perfect location on a quiet street, and just a quick walk to all the hot spots around town. Our room was quiet and peaceful, with a very comfortable bed. There were also lots of nice common areas where we could read, relax and meet other guests.

The owners were very friendly and accommodating, and helped us with several great restaurant recommendations and also provided ideas for some fun island activities. We will definitely stay here when we come back.

My husband and I spent 2 nights here and were quite pleased. The location to town and Jetties beach was great. It was a 10 minute walk to ferry. The room and bathroom were very clean. We were in Room #8 which had a small balcony, lovely for sitting and reading a book. Our bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet in the inn and in the surrounding neighborhood. We would definitely stay at the Sherburne Inn again.
