“The Sherburne Inn is the Best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 December 2006

We have stayed at the Sherburne Inn many times, both in the summer and the off season, and have always had a wonderful time. The location is great - a block from the main shopping/restaurant area and another to the Madaket and Jetties beach NRTA shuttle buses. The Sherburne is a 19th century house, with high ceilings, antique furniture and four-poster or canopy beds. Rooms include a small TV with DVD player, and free wireless Internet is available. The owners, Susan and Dale, are great people who make everyone feel right at home. Continental breakfast, with great homemade items, is served in the parlor. In the evening, sherry and cookies are put out for the guests. The inn includes numerous small, thoughtful amenities to make a vacation stay more comfortable: a stand full of umbrellas to borrow if it rains, beach totes, sand chairs and umbrellas, an electric tea kettle and creamers if you want an evening tea. I've recommended the Sherburne Inn to several others, and they have never been disappointed. Since we found the Sherburne Inn, we don't want to stay anywhere else on Nantucket.

  • Liked — The relaxed atmosphere and the wat the owners make everyone feel at home.

Spent 3 nights at the Sherburne Inn in December for 2006 Christmas Stroll. The Inn was beautiful, the location was very convenient, and Susan couldn't have made us feel more at home. There was a continental breakfast every morning with terrific home-cooked muffins, and cookies and sherry every afternoon. Additionally there was a wine & cheese get together one afternoon. The rooms were nice but the parlors were great. The parlors were where everyone gathered for breakfast in the mornings to review the prior days activities, restaurants etc, and say what they were planning for the day, and in the evenings, people gathered in the parlor for a glass of wine before retiring. If interaction with others in a truly New England setting within a 2 minute walk to downtown is your goal, you can't beat the Sherburne Inn.

  • Liked — Friendly host & convenient to town
  • Disliked — Prefer larger rooms but rooms adequate given age of building and good condition.
  • Tips/Secrets — Make reservations well in advance

What a beautiful inn, and the owners (Susan and Dale) are so welcoming and accomodating. Lovely, New England type quaint inn, beautifully and comfortably furnished, delicious breakfast (always a yummy muffin or pumpkin cake), and sherry and cookies in the afternoon. Close to town but on a quiet side street. Stay here, and enjoy your visit!

We recently stayed at the Sherburne Inn and could not have been more pleased with our choice of B&Bs! We travel quite a bit and have stayed at B&Bs all over the country. This was one of the best! The owners attention for detail was great! They thought of everything...comfy robes, information about the area in the rooms, candy dishes everywhere, a computer for guests, a stocked refrigerator for beverages, and tea/coffee available in the parlor. Our favorite things though, were the super comfy beds outfitted with down and luxury linens (hard to get out of in the morning!) and the wonderful baked goods (goodies for breakfast and wonderful cookies in the afternoon). We've stayed at many B&Bs on Nantucket and found this one superb. The location was convenient and within walking distance to everything, but on a quiet street (some streets in town can be quite loud). If you want a cozy room with all the comforts of home on Nantucket, this is the place to stay. We loved room 5 with its beautiful canopy bed.

This was at least our fourth trip to the Sherburne Inn and my wife and I start looking forward to going, like a couple of children, months ahead of time. We already have our next trip planned for May of 2007. We think of staying at the Sherburne Inn as the quintessencial Nantucket experience. The Inn is so homey and comfortable and the owners make sure that everything is just right and if ever you need anything they are always there for you. We have stayed at other Inns on the Island but when we discovered The Sherburne Inn we knew we had discovered the Inn we would always come back to year after year. Truly, our home away from home

We've stayed at 3 or 4 different B&B's on Nantucket. This is a nice inn on a quiet street w/ excellent hosts. Room #4 is large and pretty quiet as it is situated in the back of the house.
FYI: They have a sister property out on Main street called The White House. That was o.k. for 1 nite but there is nothing quaint abou it. Susan & Dale don't own that property but use it more for an overflow situation. It is certainly adequate but pretty basic.
We would definitely stay at the Sherburne again and again....

  • Liked — The hosts...
  • Disliked — Cracked ceiling
  • Tips/Secrets — Stay here, but not at their other location: The White House

Just back from a trip to Nantucket for my wife's birthday. Had not visited in 20 years but still as quaint (altho slightly more traffic) as ever. Selected the Sherburne based on TripAdvisor comments and was not disappointed. This is a charming and comforable inn, on a quiet street only a couple of blocks from the center of town. All Restaurants and shopping an easy walk away. Wonderful homemade continental breakfasts served in the common parlor every morning were excellent and more than adequate. Cookies and sherry every afternoon. We stayed in Room 1, immaculately clean with a four poster rice bed fitted with luxurious linens. We've stayed in B&B's across the country and this is one of the best! This is obviously a labor of love for Innkeepers Suzanne and Dale!
