Remarkable inn & ambience in an exclusive, outrageously perfect paradise surrounded by private beaches, ocean views, rolling Great Gatsby lawns for sipping libations at sunset...or sunrise... and the scent of the extensive blooming gardens that surround you everywhere you go. Exquisite culinary delights from renowned master chefs...from gourmet, homemade breakfasts ocean view to personalized culinary dinner delights. We were there this August, during a high-season full house. Solely because of the highly professional & exquisite personal service from Concierge Jordana Fleishchut ~ felt like we were Wauwinets only guests! We've never been treated so well! Jordana was nothing short of amazing in every detail she created in the itinerary she developed for our 30th anniversary. Jordana provided PHENOMENAL personal service from chocolate covered strawberries & mimosas at breakfast, to exclusive picnics on one of their beaches, to Jeep island cruises & private cocktail cruise around Nantucket on the Wauwinet Lady right off their dock. Being spoiled by 5 Star resorts, our expectations were very high & Jordana surpassed even our highest expectations with her extraordinary, elaborate & creative yet surprisingly discreet daily personal attentiveness. Like having an entire personal staff to care for your every whim...massage on the beach? Great Gatsby lawn sunset cocktails? Enjoy local Nantucket vodka or wine? Every whim & wish Jordana granted.....we can't wait to go back next summer!
The entire experience was a dream come true....you have to go enjoy for yourselves! Its a most memorable not-to-be-missed-must-have- Wauwinet- vacation!!.....tkj4zanoni

Room Tip: All rooms have great views given their remarkable location.

The Wauwinet has
exquisite restaurants, discreet and professional help, very nice clientele, quiet elegance, gorgeous private beach, and is just a real treat to spend time at in Nantucket. We were there for 5-6 days in late august, and the whole experience was very relaxing, and we will definately return annually at the very least. We had a waterview room and it was approximately $1000 per night, before meals of course.
The spa was lovely as well, with very good therapists. The whole "vibe" at this little gem was really perfection! The concierge Jordana, was exceptional in every way.
She, as most of the whole staff, could not be happier helping you with any request, and did it with a smile and was just lovely, knowledgeable, and very professional.

Room Tip: request waterview king.

We stayed at this inn for four nights at the beginning of September. We were just looking for a very quiet, off season, charming place to spend at long weekend for my husband's birthday. This place seemed idea based on the website.. We booked a room that cost about $1000. Per night. We cannot begin to express our disappointment in this place. The whole weekend was a disaster. We would never recommend it to any one, ever, ever. We stayed in a "cottage" called beach plum.
I booked the hotel using the 800 number listed on line I was told by the reservation person that this was a very quiet room, spacious, could actually accommodate four, not two people.
I noticed on a map of the property listed on line, that the room was located close to the parking lot. I specifically asked the agent if this was a quiet room, she assure me it was, stating that only "a few cars" used the parking lot, usually guests having lunch at the inn's restaurant. What a lie this was!
We arrived to find that the "cottage" was a mingey, smelly shack with no view of the ocean whatsoever. The parking lot was located within a few yards of the bedroom window. This shack was so small and cheaply constructed that it was most suitable to college- age renters on the Jersey Shore. In fact, we were expecting Snooki to peek out around the corner the corner at any minute. There were two tiny rooms and two tiny bathrooms that were so small that you could not sit on the toilet and close the door at the same time. The shack reeked of cheap airport variety disinfectant. Every time we entered the room, we opened every window. Inexplicably, every time we retuned to the room, all of the windows were shut again, the smell was intolerable. Everything in the room was of the cheapest possible construction. As I struggled to open the cheaply constructed windows, the kind with Home
depot- type snap on window pains, the entire thing fell apart in my hand, including the
Shutters!! The pillows on the bed are a neck- crippling foam, of the worst quality.
the worst part about this disaster was the consistent and persistent noise level from the parking lot. Contrary to what we were told, the parking lot serviced not only the restaurant, but served for employee parking, pick up and delivery trucks and most startling of all, A GARBAGE TRUCK THAT COMPACTED THE TRASH every morning. Yes, that is right at exactly nine am on SUNDAY morning the trash compacting started, at about eleven on other mornings, a few yards outside our ground floor bedroom. cRUNCH, CRACK, GRIND, GRIND..The noise from the parking lot started at about six am when employees arrived to work, SLAM, BAM, talk, talk, then on to the delivery trucks that started to roll in BEEP BEEP BEEP as the backed up, someone trying in vain, for about a half hour to start a car with a dead battery, drunk 20 somethings leaving a wedding at night. Awful does not even degin to describe it. Our house in the middle of manhattan is more peaceful!.
This cottage was so terrible that we were forced to leave at every opportunity. The best thing about this inn, is of course the stunning location. That is indeed an A plus, really fabulous. Just as we got on to the divine front lawn on Saturday afternoon, craving silence and peace, a place away from the mind numbing garbage compacting trucks, out of nowhere appears My Big Fat Greek Wedding! Yep, miles of purple and shocking pink tulle, loudspeakers, a lounge -music band with bongo drums, and the drunk 20- somethings in the parking lot at eleven pm!
Again, we had to flee, it was just so annoying and ridiculous. We spent the rest of the day wandering aimlessly in town just to get away from it. Some vacation for a thousand dollars a night!
I have read the previous posts for this inn and I have to strongly concur with the following:
-this is not a relais and chateau level hotel. It just isn't. We too have stayed at many and this does not even come close, not even close. Aside from the stunning location, it has very, very little to offer.
-this place is really more like a bed and breakfast, not a hotel or an inn. It is just cheap and cut rate, nothing first rate here, nothing at all. It reminded us of a ski bed and breakfast in Vermont that we would have gone to in our college years, for a hundred dollars a night.
-the food was very mediocre. We decided to try out the casual dining restaurant first before we ventured on to the fine dining restaurant, Toppers. The food was so very ordinary at the restaurant that we dared not try the fine dining. One day we order a plate of oysters on the with wine before dinner. The oysters arrived dried up and a room temperature rolling about on a plate. They seemed to have been shucked hours before, they were devoid of all of their liquor, were stuck to the shell in an unattractive, poisonous- looking looking way and presented with out a bed of ice underneath. How long had they been sitting out on a kitchen counter somewhere, we wondered.
Honestly, I could go on and on. The only thing to recommend about this place is the setting. Book elsewhere. Be warned.

Room Tip: Do bot ever, ever, ever book beach plum cottage

The Wauwinet offers a truly relaxing vacation. The staff is attentive but unobtrusive. Many things have been thought of to make your time on Nantucket hassle-free including, raincoats and umbrellas for those wet days. Cheese and port/sherry in the afternoon in the Library were wonderful each day. Sinking into the thick cushioned chaise on the lawn with only the sounds of the lapping waves or rustling reeds on the dunes were simply perfect for us. We hope to return!
