Just spent four nights at the Wauwinet. It is a big, rambling B&B type hotel with a location at the end of the island and with beaches on both the bay and ocean. Room on first floor had private patio fully outfitted with padded loungers and umbrella. Lovely large room. Jitney service to town very prompt and convenient. Restaurant, and especially the outdoor deck very good, if a bit pricey, but that's true of all Nantucket. Totally enjoyed our time. Staff helpful, friendly. Couldn't be better, except a pool would be nice.

Room Tip: Rooms facing bay get sunset. But, first floor rooms have terraces.

If you get a chance to go to Nantucket, this is the place to stay. It is a beautiful property, and desirable, with just 33 rooms. The service is second to none. The hotel restaurant, Toppers has one of the most extensive wine lists that I have ever seen. It is also the number one rated restaurant in Massachusetts. The property is located on the water, with a nice, quiet beach. The experience was amazing. First class experience, all the way!

My husband and I took our son for an externship and were super impressed! The staff is like family and the fine details make you feel super appreciated. The pictures are 'spot on'! The raspberry chamomile chocolate on your pillow alongside the notecards with your name on them add a unique touch. The quick response to any request is amazing!

The Wauwinet is a very friendly inn with amazingly luxurious details! Our guestroom was simple yet plush and the staff worked hard to make us happy at every opportunity. We were welcomed with sparkling wine, had cheese and port in the afternoons, and the morning coffee and pastries made me feel at home - but so much better than home! The front deck and lawn were perfect for sitting and watching the bay.
I would recommend the Wauwinet to anyone visiting Nantucket who wants to get away from it all. It is quiet, remote, and on the beach with both bay and Atlantic shores. And 20+ minutes from downtown was perfect to stay clear of Figawi weekend! As the season is just ramping up, I look forward to another visit this year.

Room Tip: Our corner guestroom had views of both the bay and Atlantic, plus overlooked the side lawn for good...

I had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Wauwinet. I'm an employee of Topper's restaurant, and my mom came to visit me and stayed at the Wauwinet. I stayed with her, and we were both incredibly impressed with the Inn itself and the service we received. We were greeted with such a warm and friendly staff, and help carrying our bags upstairs to our room. The room was a beautiful corner room with the pouffiest bed I've ever seen. The room felt homey and clean. We were so surprised at all the small touches. From the robe and slippers, to the point in the toilet paper, to the customized Wauwinet greeting cards, and the chocolates on the pillows. It was truly a unique experience simply seeing all the details the staff tends to. The complimentary daily cheese and port in the library was a great opportunity to take a mid-day break from exploring the island. The views were beautiful and the grounds well-kept. We even saw 3 bunnies and a gorgeous sunset over the harbor. It was a wonderful stay and we'll definitely go back.

Room Tip: There is no elevatory in the Inn, so if stairs are difficult to manage, I suggest staying in one of...

Dear Annabelle N,

Thanks for the positive feedback with your stay back in May. We love that you are so impressed with all the little details of the hotel. Having such a small hotel in such an amazing location on the island and complimented by the water views also helps! We look forward to welcoming you back to The Wauwinet in the future. We will try and arrange for the bunnies to make another appearance during the gorgeous sunset.

Signed up for T.A. recently and now going back to review some favorite (and not so favorite) spots:

The Wauwinet was definitely a favorite... we had a fabulous stay back in June 2012. Booked thru Amex FHR and received an upgrade to a beautiful ground level room with patio. Ocean views and hotel common rooms were all very nice, but by far the most unique amenity is the mounded grass lawn with lounge chairs out back--set in the coastal grasses overlooking the Head of the Harbor. Beautiful!! Get a chair, a drink and some food here and just relax in the sun...

The hotel is remote so a rental car is advisable unless you like solitude and/or waiting for the shuttle bus. Bike rentals are available complimentary but the property is not close to town and bike paths do not go as far as the hotel so for several miles riding on roads is required. Toppers is very good (and the only option nearby) but we found many more unique restaurants in town including Straight Wharf, American Seasons, and Company of the Cauldron.

Everyone on staff is very nice, friendly and efficient. The only service issues were on the lawn where it can be very slow. And the Spa was very nice if a little antiseptic.

All said, this was a very memorable stay at a wonderful small hotel. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that when our departure flight back to NYC was delayed, we toasted our extra hours on the lawn with another bottle of wine!

The Wauwinet is by far our most favored hotel/inn on the island. We go to Nantucket frequently in the Summer and in addition to renting the same Quidnet beach house, we also spend 4-5 days at the Wauwinet and another 4-5 at the Cottages at the Boat Basin (both properties are part of Nantucket Island Resorts along with the White Elephant and JCH).

The location of the Wauwinett is hands down, the best on the island. You are six miles out of town but a 15 minute jitney ride or half-hour bike ride to town. The rooms are perfect and incredibly comfortable. The 'inside' bar is a little small but who wants to be inside? One memorable evening we had there in 2011 - we had skipped dessert at dinner in town and sat on the back veranda with another couple we had met on this visit. The husband had celebrated his birthday the evening before in Topper's (Wauwinets restraurant) and there was the remainder of the cake being kept in the icebox for them in case they wanted more on their stay. The wife mentioned it to one of the hotel staffers that we would like some and 15 minutes later two servers appeared with the cake, china, silverwhere and coffee service or 4. THAT is exactly the kind special thing that happens at this wonderful property.

Room Tip: If you are staying at the Wauwinet you don't need to bring your bike to the island, they have ve...
