FABULOUS!!!!! Saw the Wauwinet on the travel channel. Stayed 3 nights & did not want to leave. The staff is wonderful. So many things are complimentary including the gourmet breakfast in Toppers Restaurant. Go in spring or fall for a great discounted rate. We travel alot & have stayed at great hotels. This is the first time we planned a return trip to a hotel before we even checked out!!

From the outset I must say that I am partial to Wauwinet if for no other reason than its location and solitude... but there are so many other reasons to LOVE Wauwinet. First off, the staff really does take the time and make the effort to make you feel truely "At Home". Each time I visit I get the feeling that I'm someone's houseguest in a great big house. That's a special feeling when the sterile "good morning" is as much as you get at so many places.

Breakfast (Included in the price) is Wonderful! All knds of goodies in your "Lightship Basket" that alone would be enough for many... but fresh berries and fruit that would cost a fortune elsewhere are all served with a smile. That's big I think. The food at other times of the day is exceptional if priced as though there is no competitive options for miles. The fact is... there aren't so... get your wallet out or bring out lunch from Provisions in town... and a trip to Murray's Liquors before you get on the frequent Shuttle Van might be a good idea too. Dinner for 2 came to $294.00. That included 1 Manhattan, a glass of really nice wine and an even better dessert wine so... to be expected.

Rooms are really nice... and you get what you pay for. I don't require a water view room usually and at Wauwinet I really don't require one. The view from all of the public areas is so great I don't need one from the room where it will be wasted while I look at the dark back of my eyelids, I usually dream of what I saw all day and out there... The view in my dreams was MORE than enough. Good linens... more like a home than hotel once again... and Decor that feels truely Nantucket and with details and a designer's touch. (Loved having novels to choose from in the room as well as CD's) Good shower Pressure and lavender Bathrobes were a plus.

Fall on Nantucket has a relaxed pace and little hustle and bustle. I sometimes feel like I should whisper when I'm at Wauwinet so as not to disturb the tranquility, but I never do... I figure what the heck... everyone's got a loud mouthed brother somewhere... More like home. If relaxing on a cushion of emerald green lawn, overlooking a dead calm ocean as the sun sets beyond its edge with a glass of port in one hand and a a loved one's relaxed grip in the other... than forget how much you're spending and be glad you are lucky enough to call Wauwinet "Home"... even if only for a couple of days.

My husband and I just returned from our fabulous anniversary trip to the Wauwinet. The location is beautiful - between the beach and the bay - and the inn oozes classic New England charm (expect cozy!). Try to visit during the "Taste of Nantucket" (Spring and Fall) when special excursions are included as part of your room rate. The Great Point Tour with Jorge is a must-do, and Capt Rob's insider knowledge of the island is unmatched. The entire staff was attentive, friendly, and definitely there to please. A wonderful treat, well worth the $$$. Can't wait until next time!

This is probably the most stuffy, snobby and obnoxious place I have ever visited, and I have been to very nice hotels all over the world. They seem to have the belief here that the "swells" who visit will like the place all the more if the atmosphere is pretentious and overbearing. If that's your thing, this is the place. If not, go elsewhere.

For those looking for a quiet place where "everybody knows your name.....and knows you want some peace and quiet" this is the place! Located a good jitney ride away from Nantucket town center, the lovely little inn is the epitome of quiet and understated elegance. From the wonderful meals at Topper's to the special popcorn with your in room movies to the premium bathroom amenities, The Wauwinet staff did not fail to impress me. Be prepared, though,to spend some bucks for this experience!

The Wauwinet is quiet and beautiful gem among the finer country inns. It occupies a serene and wildly beautiful spit of land between Nantucket Bay and the Atlantic shore. The inn marks the end of the road; only a sand two-track ventures past it into the dunes of the penninsula beyond. The grounds are beautiful, the beds soft as clouds, the views stunning--even when they face the gardens. This is a quiet place for reading, beach walks, sailing and nature tours. The pace is slow. Nightlife is sunsets, fine dinners and stargazing. The inn is decorated in an updated country style. It is lush, not stuffy. There is a balance of antique pine, overstuffed couches, beadboard walls, heavy brass hardware, wicker porch furniture, fresh flowers and picture windows which look out across a clover lawn to the docks and sweeping shores of Nantucket Bay. It is a formal version of relaxed, a comfortable version of fine. Shorts, sandals and beachwear never feel out of place. Service is impeccable--friendly, helpful and finely schooled in the nuances of hospitality. Not only are bicycles provided to explore the islands paths, but the doorman meets you promptly with them, adjusts them to your specifications, then fills the panniers with bottled water, blankets, and ponchos (if there is any chance of rain). As we started one ride, we had just taken off down the road from the inn, when our helper came running and calling after us, "Mr. Mason, Mr. Mason!" We stopped. He chugged up beside us. "Your foot was almost hitting your saddlebag. I need to adjust it a little more." Such is the ever-present attention to detail. Maybe the best reason to choose the Wauwinet, though, is the food. It simply does not get better than this. Breakfast is included in the room rates, and it is leisurely and sumptious. Bowls of fruit are in every public area during the day. A late afternoon reception is held in the library with tastings of port, sherry and fine cheeses. Dinner can be casual on the porch or relaxed formal in the main dining rooms. The choices are varied, though seafood is often emphasized. Service is exceptional, the menu inventive, the wine list beyond expectation and the sommelier is an encyclopedia of wine varieties and tastes. This inn is not a bargain, but in keeping with the relaxed theme, there are not surprise charges. Many of the amenities such as sailboats and bicycles are provided at no cost, including instructions if needed. My wife and I have stayed here several times and consider it the perfect second honeymoon get-away. I travel extensively for business, and have enjoyed many of the better hotels and venues. Hotels are generally chosen because they are tolerably close to important locations. The finest make travel tolerable; the rest are to be endured. But the Wauwinet is in another class. It's one of the few places that I travel for the pleasure of being there. Save your pennies. This is the place to splurge all of them.
