“Lucky charm!”
Reviewed 8 July 2014 via mobile

This was my first trip to Nantucket and I believe I had beginners luck! This is a beautiful B&B. The front patio is beautiful, the rooms are adorable and so comfortable, and the food is wonderful. We arrived when it was cold and drizzling, sat by the fire with our complimentary Rose to warm up. We had amazing food at nearby restaurants, had great chats with fellow guests, and hope to come again! The staff is also super friendly and helpful.

My husband and I stayed at the Chapman House in June for 3 nights. We were blown away by the staff who were so eager to help us with anything/everything we needed and provide us an insider view of the island. The room was small but upon arrival we were offered a free upgrade to a larger room with a couch. It was great to get a little more space for no extra charge!

The breakfast they provided was so good we never ended up getting breakfast anywhere else on the island. They also had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon, which was a major bonus seeing as I was 5 months pregnant at the time. They had beach chairs/towels/sunscreen/water all for us to take to the beach. They also gave me postage stamps for a card I had to send! The staff was amazing, rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location could not be beat - it is about .5 miles to jetties and only a couple minute walk to town/ferry. Would definitely return for a stay.

Spent 4th of July weekend, hurricane (where's the hurricane??) and all. Stayed at the Verandah House and found it to be quite good, with minor flaws.
Check in was a breeze, and off to room #1. The room was a decent size, with a porch overlooking the rear yard. Good size closet, tiny TV, and really no place to sit but the bed. Bathroom was good sized, good water pressure, though the towels were thin and worn. I guess I am a towel snob? Bed was two twins pushed together for a king, that's kind of a pet-peeve of ours...when you roll together to the middle, or get stuck in the crack, takes some of the luxury out of it. Evening wine was nice, and refreshing on a warm day. The grounds were beautiful. Some of the other guests were really loud at night, as our room was positioned right at the stairs and at the beginnings of two corridors, so commotion is to be expected in a high traffic area I suppose.
Now, the two best parts of the entire week...Hillary was spectacular. From check in, to wine service, to concierge to general conversation, she made the trip for us. Her dinner suggestions were spot on and excellent. Her weather forecasting skills were a thousand times better than the so-called meteorologists predicting the end of the world on TV. She was always present, and even stopped to speak with us downtown one day when we ran into each other as she ran an errand for another guest.
The other true highlight was the breakfast. It was great! imaginative, tasty, freshly prepared, and truly different. Service was impeccable, and the tables scattered about the patio were perfect as the day began, looking out at the beautiful flowers and gardens.
Overall, the Verandah met our needs and expectations, thanks mainly to caring staff and a terrific location.

Room Tip: Room #1 was very loud due to other guests. Something away from the entrance and the stairs may be pr...

Our visit was only planned for one night on the island at The Veranda House, but when we got to the island and checked into our room we just had to stay another night! This was the most amazing, peaceful place I have ever visited. The Veranda House is just a short walk from the ferry. The Staff & Managers were so nice & gave my husband and I so much needed assistance on how to get around on the island, along with the history. The breakfast was so delicious! Our room was cozy with all the extras you would need on the island while on vacation. On the second night, we were dreading leaving & was very fortunate to find availability at The Chapman House for another night. Our room there was very charming as well. Both properties are very well manicured & the staff were so friendly. We already MISS the delicious warm Chocolate cookies every evening.

Had a wonderful stay at the Veranda house.
Hannah is a wonderful rep for the property - kind and pleasant.
The breakfast exceeded expectations - baked goods and fruit are always given to you at the beginning then you can choose from 3 standard offerings or the special of the day. One day the special was a belgium waffle, the other day was a potato hash special. All great. The cookies and sparkling rose in the afternoon are a welcome treat. The decor and furniture are modern and high end. Everything is clean and well organized. Love the flavored water in the lobby too. Highly recommend a stay off season - we got a great rate mid-June. Check out karaoke at the rose and crown, the Greater light house, and a mudslide at the gazebo before you get back on the ferry

My husband and I cannot say enough great things about Hillary and the staff at The Veranda House. We spent 3 nights there and had a lovely time. Our room was extremely comfortable. Quality linens and our bed was extremely comfortable. Complimentary extras available truly made us feel like we were at home. The 3-4 course morning breakfast on the Veranda was our favorite part and a wonderful way to start the day.

The staff was fantastic from first contact, to saying our goodbyes. The room and property was lovely, the breakfast was really good, and the location extremely convenient. We have stayed in various B&B's nearby, but plan on returning to the Veranda House for future stays.
