One of the surprising things about Nantucket is the number of excellent restaurants. The Pearl is at the top of the pack, Great food, great service, lovely ambiance. But it's not cheap!

This is probably the trendiest restaurant on Nantucket for dinner, probably Cru on the water for trendiest lunch. Good looking 40 somethings, loud music, fancy lighting, and good looking servers. While trend doesn't always equate to a meals quality.....we felt this restaurant delivered.
I started with the tuna martini and followed with the wok lobster. The server said these were the two most popular items on the menu. We also had the lettuce wraps, the 20 second steak, and two fish dishes.....everything was elevated in terms of flavors. Probably the most expensive dinner we had on the Island....3 girls bill came in at over $500. However we enjoyed some fancy $20 drinks and 2 bottles of wine. The wok lobster was $56 that evening but wow....there's a lot of lobster in that dish! The bar turns into a bit of a party later in the evening. We also dined at American Seasons, Cru, Ventuno, Wauwinet, and Dune. All very good....

I have eaten at the Pearl once every single summer since 2006. The food is fantastic. The wok fried lobster is one of the best dishes I have EVER had in my life. I am not kidding. It is always amazing. The service is ok. It has actually gone down hill in my opinion over the past few years. Staff can be curt and they hurry you out as quickly as possible. Even after reserving a specific table 5 MONTHS in advance, we arrived last year to be seated in a dark corner because they "lost" our request. It was pretty bad. That being said, the only good service is at the bar. The bartender always seems friendly and attentive. Also, (obviously- this is Nantucket after all) be prepared to spend a lot of money. :)

We loved our dinner at the Pearl! The lobster entree, the vietnamese lettuce wraps, the wedge salad and the tuna tartare appetizer were amazing, memorable dishes! The atmosphere is trendy and modern or contemporary for Nantucket. The bar is buzzing but it's the food that has brought us back time and time again.

Love the food, as it's a change from most restaurants in town.
Can be quite noisy, and the music just made it worse.
