My husband and I always walk from Nanucket town out to this casual lunch spot. You order your lunch inside the small building and then wait to hear your name called. My husband and I shared a whole sandwich this time which was more than enough for each of us. The selection of freshly baked breads and toppings for the sandwiches is great. Save room to share one of their cookies as you sit at picnic tables under the trees.

The full sandwich is massive. A wide selection of fresh produce and cheeses to pile on. Best to call in advance during lunch hour since the crowds get heavy. Can't find a better sandwich on the island.

Our family goes to Something Natural at least once or twice a year and my experience is always the same.

--wonderful setting. Order inside, and then picnic on their big lawn with shady picnic tables and lots of room for the kids to run around
-- amazingly good bread (many varieties, including Portuguese white, pumpernickel, oatmeal, whole wheat, and lots more). You can buy the bread all over the island at supermarkets and elsewhere.
-- huge sandwiches: they offer to sell half-sandwiches for a very good reason. No kid, certainly, would want to eat a whole one. A half-sandwich at Something Natural is about the size of a whole one elsewhere. Be warned!
-- a few great sandwiches: try the cheddar, avocado and chutney, or the chicken salad
-- most other sandwiches just don't have that much flavor. Overstuffed with lettuce, tomato, and not enough savory fillings, the main flavor you are going to get is from mustard and mayo.
-- a place almost universally loved, you will see the Something Natural sticker on cars up and down the Eastern Seaboard.

Yet: the food is just not as good as it could be! How about some alterna-spreads like pesto or savory mayo, or fillings like cole slaw? Most of the sandwiches don't have enough flavor for me to crave them.

Still, a lot of fun and worth a visit for some real Nantucket vibes.

We ordered an assortment of sandwiches to eat on the beach and everyone was very pleased with their choices. The bread is fresh, the ingredients are wonderful and the cookies are delicious. I will go back and recommend anyone looking for a finger licking lunch go there as well! I had their lobster roll and must say the half sandwich on Portuguese BreadI had was totally filling and off the charts!

We had people ranging from their late 70's to their teens that ate here and everyone enjoyed the casual picnic setting. The food was delicious, the setting was peaceful, it was a great way to enjoy the perfect Nantucket weather. Our kids also enjoyed "photo ops" at the old boat. It's not easy to get teenagers to pose for photos, but they all enjoyed hamming it up on the boat.
