Located in the heart of Nantucket's Historic District, the abundant charm of this small red building with ivy-covered windows invites you to enter. Inside the doorway massed flowers greet you on the antique bakers rack. Just beyond, tables glow softly, lit only by candles. The kitchen is open and can be seen from the dining room. Classical harp music wafts in the background three evenings of the week. Romantic ambience abounds.

“Success with a set menu!”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

The Cauldron is a bit different in that it offers a set menu which varies by the day of the week. An interesting concept which allows the diner to pick the day of the week which fits his or her tastes. My wife an I chose a night which included paella en papillote and fillet of beef for the main. Both were excellent and the presentation so nice, that I had to diagramme for future use. The concept is interesting in that it allows the chefs to concentrate on uniformity and presentation without assembly of a rarely ordered dish. The only disadvantage is limitation of the short-term visitor to select a menu which suits. If you are open to all cuisine, the Cauldron will elevate the experience beyond what you might find with a conventional approach with an ala carte menu.

“Loved it!”
Reviewed 6 October 2013 via mobile

We are so glad we dined here. What a unique dining experience in Nantucket. There is a preset tasting type menu every night and we had the halibut which was delicious. Its pricey but I think its worth it. The service was simple but professional and the atmosphere was charming. Make sure you make reservations ahead in summer months.

“Our reason to visit Nantucket”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

This restaurant is by far our favorite of all restaurants. It is small and intimate with friendly and attentive service. There is a set menu each night at either one or two setatings each night. You can find the menu for each night on the Internet. This September when we ate here the dinner was superb - a wonderful first course with pasta, lobster, and eggplant in a delicious sauce. The main course was a filet and shrimp with a Carolina sauce and vegetables. Dessert was tiramisu.

“Monday night is lobster night!”
Reviewed 16 September 2013

Just got back from a wonderful 4 course dinner in an atmosphere so unintentionally reminiscent of a scene in a Harry Potter film. First of was a lobster bisque that even Elaine from Seinfeld would never "yada, yada" through. Right after, was the lobster crab cake that was the best of the bunch, followed by lobster claw and tail garnished with a unique, refreshing, bacon-laced potato salad and hardy serving of spicy broccoli. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert, so I'm a little tough to please, and Cauldron's offering was not up to snuff, but adequate.
service was very courteous & attentive, but could have slowed down a little after dinner... There was little bit of a rush just before dessert, and I got the impression that no one was afforded the opportunity to just sit back and relax for a few minutes.
All the details of a the dinner can be found on the restaturant's website.

“LUCKY us -- we went twice!”
Reviewed 16 September 2013

On our first visit on Wednesday evening, we had one of the most amazing first courses ever -- a spaghetti with lobster and eggplant "croutons." The fixed menu was lamb, but the restaurant kindly accommodated us and substituted halibut that was delicious. We went back on the following Monday night for their Lobster Night. Wow -- amazing courses with delicious preparation of lobster at each, except for the dessert course which was a delicious homemade donut and icecream. Amazing. Wonderful service and the noise wasn't too badl
