We stayed in El Convento Boutique hotel for the last leg of our honeymoon and we weren't disappointed.

The hotel is located in a nice quiet corner of the town but only a short stroll from the town centre. The hotel itself is a reproduction of an old convent building. It is that good of as reproduction that we didn't even realise that it was a new building.

The ambience and attention to detail all over the hotel is great and the rooms are top quality. The four poster bed, which was huge and extremely comfortable, was a dream to sleep in. The bathroom was bigger than a lot of rooms I have stayed in. The jacuzzi in the patio area was a lovely extra and made for a lovely relaxing after after walking around the town.

We ate in the restaurant on 2 occasions and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a little expensive but well worth it. The staff are very nice and always greet you with a smile and there is nothing to small for them to help you with.

Overall this was up there with the best hotels we have stayed in anywhere in the world.

For those whom appreciate "the best" ,,,you've found the hotel! Beautiful colonial ( yet sophisticated) architecture, the rooms are beautifully decorated , private terrace lighted up by beautiful candles at night. Fireplaces or jacuzzis inside the rooms are optional. Food is exquisite, either room service or the dining room offer incredible good service by an extremely courteous staff.
We visited Antigua and stayed at "El Convento"celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary,,,,,,,,our experience at this hotel is simply unforgettable, we couldn't have asked for anything better, it was simply Perfect!

Room Tip: Every room is different from each other, but gorgeous, if you love fireplaces and the cascading sound of water fountains in your terrace all of these are optional ,so you must ask first what is available on the room offered.

Antigua is an amazing touristic city in Guatemala stuck in time. It's like you took a picture in the colonial times and it stayed.

It's so beautiful... safe... you can walk there, eat, visit historic places, shop...

This hotel is a "false colonial one". It was not built a long time ago and it was built the way it is on purpose.

Well taste is present all around, from the the color combination to the furniture and tissues chosen.

Rooms are just amazing. I had one (maybe Don Rodrigo or Don something?) with a private fountain at the back, very relaxing.

The lights at the rooms are amazing. So is the comfort. The bathrooms. The small restaurant. The wine choices.

Ticks all the boxes by far.

I went with a colleague to Guatemala to work and we spent the weekend in Antigua. We did a bit of tourism and worked. We could really relax and produce. We were so amazed by the hotel that we came back on the very next weekend.

It's certain that this hotel is for couples and romance though.

Ask for a Baigorri Crianza in the restaurant. Have a seafood risotto - the best risotto I had in my life. The chef is from Guatemala, but studied in France and Switzerland.

My room also had an Internet access point. Be sure your have, as the whole hotel is made of large stones, so they cannot have good coverage all around.

Have an amazing experience.

This hotel is literally next to the arch (a famous spot in Antigua) and is walking distance to restaurants, attractions, etc. We were there during the week and it was quiet (except for the church bells). We had the biggest room we had ever seen; it had 3 queen sized beds and LOTS of room left over. Plus, it had a LONG bathtub, long enough for me to stretch arms and legs out completely, and a gigantic bathroom. Shower worked great. Food at the restaurant is wonderful. Staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Free parking on the premises (rare in Antigua) and rooms in the back have cute kitchenettes. I highly recommend (if you have a higher budget)

Located on Ave 2a, 2 blocks from the main square.

Every details of the property has been attended to. You feel like you are staying in a small private villa. Rooms are large and uniquely furnished with antiques. Sunlight pours into the suites from windows in the roof. There is music in the background and the staff is incredible.

Highly recommended!
