“You have to eat here once.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

I have eaten at this restaurant every time I go to Antigua. The food is wonderful and the setting is amazing. All over Antigua they light candles at night in hotels and restaurants.

“Well-deserved reputation for food & ambiance, but inferior wine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

This is perhaps the best known of the higher end restaurants in Antigua, and it is located within the hotel of the same name. You need to take a taxi from the center of town, but once you arrive, they have a lovely courtyard and several nice rooms. Additionally, you should walk upstairs and check out the view from the roof while you are there. Although they don’t always serve up there, it is well worth the climb.

We sat in the courtyard and loved the peaceful atmosphere. Close by was an indoor/outdoor room called the Cave (la cueva), where musicians came to perform and one also could see the lap pool of the hotel.

We enjoyed our meals, which included steak, chicken and fish. They were well-prepared although fairly standard fare for people who are accustomed to dining in fine restaurants. Meaning that the cuisine was good, but not terribly creative. We also were not impressed with the wine list, and it appeared that our waiter had received little training in wine. When asked for a recommendation, he proceeded to offer us basic information about what a chardonnay was, what a sauvignon blanc was, etc. We would have expected more from a restaurant of this reputation.

Although this wasn’t our favorite meal in Antigua (see my other reviews), if you are staying in the town several nights, it is well worth a visit.

“Fabulous ambiance”

We happened upon this place after a recommendation. The place is remarkable, one of the nicest settings ever around a pool and patio's all lit by candle. The staff were all very nice and the food very good.

“Affordable Extravagance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

Every time I eat at Panza Verde I leave feeling completely satisfied. The ambiance, the company, the setting, the service, the wine, the FOOD are all exceptional.

I was just there while on a visit last week and was able to squeeze in without a reservation (I would recommend one on the weekends). Even with the last tables in the house the flow of energy was nice and I felt comfortable at our table. I can become uncomfortable easily flow of energy is off.

I am vegan, and every time I have eaten here I have had no problem being accommodated. They have several tasty salads, at least one vegan soup and a couple of tofu dishes – vegans can delight along with their fellow meat eaters who will also be surely impressed, or so I hear.

Dinner here may be a bit pricier than other restaurants in Antigua. But it is little compared to US prices. Make a night of it.

“fabulous restaurant accompanied by US prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Outstanding restaurant. Wonderful food. Outstanding atmosphere. Superb service. We sat in courtyard. Apparently you can sometimes get a table on the ceiling with spectacular views. The tables around the indoor pool/fountain has a 50Q surcharge. That is a very romatic setting.

This is the first restaurant in Antigua that we went to that charged US prices. Drinks in the bar were $10-12 each. Restaurant does not open for dinner until 7:00 PM. Generally there is a cab waitinbg outside to take diners back to hotel for a reasonable fare $6.

We left kids at home and had a wonderful adult dinner.
