“Good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

Great location and the price is OK but it was bit noisy. Friendly staff and the pool was very good. Unusually they charge 10% surcharge on any credit card for a booking, happy to pay a10% gratuity for service at restaurants bars etc but just to bookin that's a bit rich. Slight difficulty with breakfast one morning but when it's available it,s very good value.

Room Tip: Not ground floor it's about noisy

I stayed at this Hotel recently with my family for Semana Santa. I found the price to be average for a hotel around Antigua and the location to be absolutely fantastic. It doesnt get much better than right off the square and if you expect to pay drastically less for an equal hotel in Antigua then youre crazy. We had a room with two double beds and they even gave us a free smaller bed in our room to make us more comfortable. The room was extremely well kept and clean. Whenever we left, we would return to the room made-up by the cleaning staff and I cant say enough how excellent of a job they did at tidying up. They even bothered to rearrange some of our things into a more organized way and had folded the clothes we had left around the room.
When we made requests to the staff such as for extra water bottles or a shuttle somewhere, they were quick to oblige and always courteous. We used a private shuttle from the airport to the hotel and then at the end back to the airport, both for about $10 a person. I never had any trouble paying in Quetzales like some other reviewers have stated. They do add a fee for using credit cards but Ive found that almost every tour agency or hotel does. The wifi was a plus and the sauna was quite nice.
The only negatives I could say for this hotel is that the pool could be a bit nicer (though theyve taken trouble to try) and that it would be nice to have even just a small fitness facility. The hottub was a nice touch although it wasnt nearly hot enough to our liking and the breakfast buffet was most definitely nice but also most definitely more expensive than surrounding restaurants.
What Ill say is this. If you dont want an expensive breakfast buffet then go to one of the 100s of places around Antigua, if you dont want to throw used toilet paper in a trashcan then dont go to Guatemala, and if you want more tour options then walk 20 feet till you find a tour agency. The hotel was clean with a friendly and attentive staff, as well as decently priced for the amazing location. I reccomend this hotel to families of individuals who are okay with spending a bit of money for a nice place in the center of everything.

Hotel Casa del parue is located in the best place in the city, about 100meters from the catedral.
The place has a very nice garden and a small pool.
Rooms were comfortable&very clean but quite basic.
Team is very nice and the services was good.
We ordered local guided trips and transportation through the hotel, they work with local traveling agency, it saved us time and brought high quality results but i'm not sure it is the chipest option you can find.

The good: very nice staff, awesome wi-fi, nicely decorated rooms. Very clean

The Weird: no separate bathrooms. Toilet and shower were part of the bedroom. There was a notice not to flush toilet paper in the toilet, but the wastebasket had no cover, therefore, smells came into the room. No fan and no window to open in the toilet area.

The bad: walls were paper thin. I heard one half of an hour conversation of my neighbor trying to find his lost luggage. When you pay with a credit card there is a 10% fee, which happens to be prohibited by the agreement with the credit card company. To ad insult to injury, they only accept dollars as payment, so if you pay with a credit card, they first translate your bill into the dollars are the highest possible exchange rate. A double whammy and quite unnecessary.

Room Tip: The high rooms are very quiet except for the noises from your neighbors.

I found the hotel to be a bit pricey for what it had to offer. The rooms smell owful from the cleaning detergents and the breakfast was lame, for the $5 you could eat outside, plus they served the same thing every day. The staff was nice and helpful had not knowleadge how to book activities or the main attractions in the area which I thought was very odd giving the fact that that is their job....None of them had any idea of what good restaurants are around or what are the top attractions around Antigua or how to contact them.....bizarre. Also the pool is not heated so hope only for the hot tub as the pool was rather chilly

A very nice small hotel with great staff (thanks Aby!). Right off the central park where everything is happening especially during the holidays. we had an upstairs room for the first week with views of the volcano and city. Then moved downstairs to a street side location which was a bit noisy during the night and early morning.

The pool, sauna and jacuzzi sure came in handy after miles of walking! We will stay there again

Room Tip: Upstairs in back with view of town!

Antigua is a wonderful little town that is safe but if you're planning on going out to the bars late at night then I would highly recommend booking a hotel as close to the town center as possible.

The location of this hotel is excellent and the staff was proficient in English and very friendly.
