The owner has done a fantastic job. Beautiful property built amongst ruins of an old church. he also goes out of his way to take care of you. It was like staying in a little miniaturized version of the famous Santa Domingo hotel in town (which happens to be just about 5 blocks from this hotel) When we arrived late, he personally drove us into town to make sure we got there before restaurants closed. And when we had an issue with a transfer, he personally drove us to the airport. He's really going all out to provide an excellent experience.
The only downside is location. it's nice that it's quiet and removed from town, but it does take 10-15 minutes to walk to town if you're heading for the main square. Which is fine if you plan on heading into town for a day of touring around for awhile, but not as convenient if you just want to go into town for a quick coffee or snack. Of course you can always grab a taxi or tuk-tuk to get to and from town. We didn't get to sample the restaurant at the hotel except for breakfast which was excellent, and I think the owner was actually doing the cooking.
