I can not say enough enough wonderful things about this hotel, its staff and virtually everything about it. I stayed here recently with my girlfriend and we could not have been happier. First off the grounds are beautiful with architecture that blends in beautifully with the ruins that Hotel Cirilo sits on.. Ricardo is a wealth of information and wants your experience in Antigua and Guatemala to be as memorable as possible and will book everything for you at a reasonable rate (when booking our Volcano tour he told us it's not worth getting the English guide, thus saving us money) He and his warm staff have created a mellow, relaxing atmosphere, we loved leisurely eating the delicious complimentary breakfasts with the greatest coffee at our outdoor table. My only knock is it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the "center" of Antigua but I still think it is the best option in Antigua.

Hotel Cirilo was such a refreshing place to stay. Ricardo, Lucky, and their staff were ever so helpful and professional. They really took care of us, from the reservations to transportation to and from airport and around town. We had the very end room and it was marvelous. Such a picturesque view. The food was delicious. The pool is not heated but was still beautiful (my husband and others swam but it was way too cold for me). We hope to be back.

Room Tip: Choose one of the end rooms but if you're a light sleeper take earplugs as people like to party in town on weekend nights and the firecrackers can be startling.

My husband and I spent our first night in Guatemala at Hotel Cirilo. We were visiting during Semana Santa (Holy Week). This was our first time in Guatemala and our Spanish is poor. The owner, Ricardo, we very helpful prior in helping plan our trip--his English is excellent and he provided lots of great advice by email. When we arrived we at the hotel we were greeted by his assistant, Lucki, who also spoke excellent English and provided us with a tour of the hotel and all the information we needed.
Semana Santa is a very busy time, so we were glad that Hotel Cirilo offered a tranquil refuge from the city. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast superb. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

If you are sensitive to noise I would recommend requesting a room that is away from the reception and dining room (higher in number).

The gardens and ruins are beautiful. It's a walk to town and if you've had a few drinks it can be challenging to find the hotel. Make sure you bring the hotel Name and Address.... :) when you go out.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the reception area.

We arrived at Cirilo after a long flight, tired and exhausted. Arriving at Cirilo made it all worthwhile and set the bar incredibly high for the rest of our trip. We were shown to our room to find we had been upgraded to the suite. The room was beautiful, spotless and overlooked the pool and peaceful gardens. Breakfast was amazing and the staff couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. The walk into town was a nice stroll and not far at all. Four fabulous nights - we didn't want to leave. We returned to Antigua for one day and stayed at Quinta de las Flores which we had already booked. Whilst it has nice gardens and pool to cool off in, Cirilo wins hands down for atmosphere, comfort and service. Highly recommended!

Hotel Cirilo in Antigua, Guatemala is a sanctuary that you will love to come home to. It is serene, beautiful and envelops the history of ancient ruins. Ricardo is a charming host and the staff are extremely accommodating. The hotel is walking distance to downtown Antigua or the staff will organise a tuk tuk.

Room Tip: all rooms are equally excellent
