I tried to quit you. I knew that with all the great food in Antigua I would run out of time and not need to go. And yet, on a quiet evening I found myself crawling up the spiral staircase to the terrace and you romanced me once again.
First, we ate early, which is always a great idea if you want a table, and we were there when the lights went on for the ruins. Beautiful. We also watched Fuego erupt and stared at the red dash across the sky until it turned dark again. Magical. But it turned out the restaurant was not very busy on a weekday night, and that was fine with us.
The food was good: An onion tarte for me; a special for the spouse; the ratatouille crepe for my daughter. (She cooks and alternately kept proclaiming "Oh my God" and "I could cry.")
The reason you go to Tartines, though is for dessert. The tiramisu was proclaimed the best ever in the whole world. That's because it is.
$110 for dinner for three including a bottle of wine (which is more expensive than other places), three sparkling waters, two desserts, and service.
And you, Tartines, you've kept my heart.
