This hotel was exactly right. The room was large and tastefully decorated. Some of the rooms opened onto a well manicured garden. My room on the first floor (up one floor) had a great view of the volcano and lovely sunlight. Breakfast was continental -- served on time with fresh croissants and fruit. Everything was beautifully designed (room, bathroom, public areas) and decorated, and all fixtures and services worked without a hitch. Met the owner and his wife and had great conversation. But best of all, I was able to story my motorcycle in a safe and secure location - wash it down and load it in a protected environment. It is a little far from the center of town, but that allows one to see a little of non-tourist Antigua (if that is possible!) as the walk to the plaza takes on past markets and shops which are used by those who live here.

Room Tip: Second floor has view of volcano, and more privacy

We spent eleven nights at Chez Daniel during our exploration of Antigua, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is the just the right distance from the town center - close enough to walk, yet far enough away to have a neighborhood feel.

Daniel has created a first-class B & B, Antigua style...and provides great local information and insight to his guests. Our room was large, filled with natural light, and spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable bed and cozy Guatemalan blankets. Our bathroom (which included an extra deep and long bathtub) was a real treat. The first morning we opened our door to an "aha!" view of Agua volcano. We were pleased to have access to the kitchen to prepare some of our meals, and loved the croissant and coffee-your-way breakfast that was served each morning.

Marleni is a warm, capable and delightful manager, as well as an amazing Spanish tutor. We enjoyed our study sessions with her and learned a great deal in a short time.

From scheduling a prompt, friendly, and reasonably priced private chauffeur to and from Guatemala City at either end of our stay, to arranging a half-day private tour of the towns surrounding Antigua with Angél (5 hours, all in Spanish...a great learning experience), the level of guest service provided was excellent.

We have already recommended Chez Daniel to a number of other folks, and look forward to a return visit in a few short months.

Chez Daniel is exactly what you want out of a bed and breakfast, perfect location, comfort, and a great host. Daniel is a world class photographer, and his images show an intimacy with Guatemala that is truly beautiful in a deep and profound way. Needless to say, he knows the country as his own and his prints decorate the rooms of this charming B and B. We arrived at night and woke to an amazing view of the volcano and the best cup of coffee that I have had in a long while. Everything is immaculately clean, comfortable, and well run. Highly recommended.

This property only has 4 rooms, but it’s very spacious. There’s a glorious kitchen perfect for people who prefer to cook their own meals. Helpful owners & staff who even arranged for me & my friend to have breakfast at 4am before we left for Tikal. Best to take a taxi when returning after 9pm.

My friends and I stayed here while visiting Guatemala. The Inn is comfortable and friendly, and the location is great. Far enough away from the noisy town center, but an easy walk to town. I would definately recommend staying there.

My wife and I recently spent several days staying at Chez Daniel. We've visited Antigua several times but this was our first time staying here. Truly it was the most beautiful, comfortable place we've stayed. The staff are exceptional, the friendliest and warmest we've come across. In short, we loved are stay here and hope to return another day.
