The location of this hotel is great. Supermarket a few blocks away, travel planning next door and a lovely food shop across the road. The hotel courtyard is beautiful. Plants and flowers everywhere and the fountain is lovely...
Unfortunately this is where the praise ends. We checked in, were given absolutely no information about the kitchen or breakfast. Reception staff were unwelcoming and unfriendly. You feel as though you're a burden by asking for information.

The rooms are clean. However we had a 4 nights stay, and our bedding wasn't changed once. The cleaning staff came into the room and made the beds every day. But I had the same sheets on my bed the whole time. I knew this because there was a cigarette burn in the bed sheet... Not really good enough. Asking the staff to change it is more hassle than it's worth and they don't make you feel as though you can approach them.

Now, onto the noise... It is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. We were unfortunately on the ground floor. Every time a member of staff from reception needs one of the cleaners/general staff, they ring a very loud bell. And this happens a lot. Staff have no consideration for the noise levels and shout to each other across the courtyard at all hours, where the sound ricochets off every wall and feels like they're in your room. We discovered through the noise that breakfast begins at 7am. Where people sit in the courtyard, talking very loudly. Very badly set up.

And the dragging of the furniture... Whenever a cleaner cleans a room. They drag the furniture across the floor, it was so loud it was ridiculous. Continuously for 45 minutes. No idea what they're dragging as there is only a table and a chair in our room that you can move.... And I wear ear plugs. All of this is heard through ear plugs may I add!!

The sign on the back of the door in the room states that some noise may be heard by neighbouring hotels. I heard nothing but noise from the staff and guests at San Vicente.

The rooms are great for a few nights stay, has a tv, beds are comfortable. Shower is terrible, barely get any hot water.

It's a shame as first impressions when you walk into the hotel is that it is beautiful. The roof terrace is amazing too. But al the above really let's it down. Shame

Nice rooms, beautiful courtyard, good buffet breakfast, helpful staff and in a great location!
I stayed in a few different places in Antigua and this was certainly my pick. There is a great restaurant opposite and tour shop next door for all of your needs.

If you go here in this hotel, dont go in the first room, there is so much noise.
It's like there is a Chinese fish market going on and you are trying to sleep in the middle of it, while there are two peacocks fighting with chainsaws
Be aware!!!!!!!!!!

San Vicente is a great place to stay for families. It is safe, calm and quite, except for the people you hear who are staying there. The windows are thin and they don't shut out the noise of your neighbors who are in the courtyard. The courtyard and the roof are great places to hang out and relax. There is a kitchen to store food and they offer a huge breakfast for only $5 per person. The rooms are simple and clean, the bathroom we had was a bit small, but not a big problem. The only complaint I have are the individual water heaters on the shower heads that gave you a little shock through the faucet when you turned the water off. Just try not to touch it directly!

My complaint about this hotel mirrors what I have said about other small hotels in Antigua. The walls are thin and other travelers speak loudly at all hours. If you want to sleep take ear plugs with you on your travels. Now that you have ear plugs, you will find this hotel friendly and a good value. Location is super convenient and close to everything. In fact it is across the street from Sabe Rico, a terrific place for lunch or take out. And it is next door to Atitrans, one of the larger tourist agencies and providers of van service to and from other tourist destinations. Staff is friendly and rooms are basic and clean. Cable TV and free wifi work in the rooms. Go to the roof terrace for wonderful views of the city from above ...take your camera. Complimentary filtered water available in the common areas. There is also hot water for tea. The hotel provides a breakfast buffet for $5. I did not have the buffet, so cannot comment on the quality.

San Vincente is the central hotel for our group of gothparents, participating in a project that gives Mayachildren the opportunity to go to school. Service is good, that's why the group is prefering this hotel for many years. Rooms are rather small but clean and quiet, there is free coffee and tea. Upon the roof terrace you have a nice view over the city.

We spent 5 nights in this hotel. We enjoyed it very much, the staff were so wonderful to us. We asked them so many questions about Antigua and the restaurants, they were beyond helpful. Most speak English if you aren't fluent in Spanish. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. There was almost always hot water. The view from the balcony is amazing, definitely worth a look. Antigua is very small and it's easy to get around, but that being said the streets aren't labelled, so be sure to ask the staff for a good map. They will happily show you how to get to anywhere you need to go. Central Park is about a two minute walk to the left, and then your first right. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a clean, comfortable place on a budget.

Room Tip: We had to switch rooms halfway through our stay, both were nice but we preferred the one on the main...
