Description: Our restaurant offers dining in a 400 year old historical convent at the most famous historical site in Antigua Guatemala, The Arch. We are famous for out steak prepared on our open wood fired grill. We also have a large selection of Guatemalan typical dishes and several International dishes. Our restaurant overlooks our beautiful central garden and fountain. Good quality food in a nice enviroment in a privileged location. We can seat groups up to 100.

Our meal at El Arco was the first outside our Hotel. We chose it after walking and sightseeing for 4+ hours and while there were others in the same part of the street, we chose this one because there was live music and when looking in the doorway from the street it looked particularly cool and inviting. We were there for lunch. The service was good, we received our meals quickly. They were a good size, good price and very tasty. The music was a nice addition. We really enjoyed it. Great location near the Arc.

The restaurant and hotel share the same quarters, rooms and dining area set around the courtyard of the ancient convent and adjacent to the ruin from the 18th century earthquake. The restaurant offers a full and reasonably varied menu with service for breakfast, lunch and dinner selections which address most dietary tastes, from carivore to vegan to comida typica. There is a full bar. The interior is a pleasant and cool retreat from the sometimes hectic street scene in the vicinity of the Arco. So come to stay and dine, or just to dine or simply to have a coffee or a glass of wine, enjoying a brief respite in the heat of the afternoon.

We enjoyed a nice lunch away from the main tourist track. The food was good, as was the service. We ordered chicken. It was nicely seasoned but a little dry. The corn and guacamole was very good, as it should be in Guatemala. If I go again, I will try the steak, as our neighbors were eating it, and it looked good. Although since there are so many good places to eat in Antigua, this wasn't good enough for me to put on the top of the list. The atmosphere was nice, ad the tables were around the courtyard.

My travelling companions and I stumbled upon this delightful restaurant/cafe. It is just off of a main road close to the Central Park of Antigua. It is a hidden gem as you have to enter through a dark tunnel like space of clothing vendors, and voila! an amazing oasis of tranquility. The restaurant/cafe is at the entrance of a hotel, and the whole area used to be living quarters for nuns. The restaurant/cafe overlooks a courtyard with a central fountain, and the hotel rooms rim the courtyard. The restaurant/cafe offers seating under the covered perimeter, and courtyard tables with ample sun umbrellas. The service is fast and professional, and the food is good. If you are lucky, the manageress will stop by your table and give you an oral history of the place.

Food was alright (although you could get better food for a lower price elsewhere). Service was terrible. It took waiters 20 minutes to take our order. Business was slow that day, so they had no excuse.
